l322 2003 td6 fuel pump - which one?

Easy question, I have the common issue whereby I'm out of diesel at 1/4 of a tank due to the split tank and pump not transferring fuel from one side to the other. Is this the internal tank pump or the external inline pump failing? Thanks.

Internal pump ! have you tried giving it a tap to check ? take cover plate off (just in front of the n/s rear wheel) switch the ignition on, check if the pump is quiet if not a soft tap might bring it back to life. If so time for replacement, they have two internal filters, clean in petrol and see if that helps till you can obtain a new pump.

Internal pump - easy fix - hardest bit is lifting the back seats out to access the top of the tank - they're heavy!
