hi all,
hoping for any advice that you can offer...

I have a 08/9 tdv8 vogue 3.6

I had the car back for two days (after 5 weeks or repairs - engine pulled out many hoses replaced thermostat replaced, prev replced the egrs etc, dash removed - to fix non turning key). As usual well into the 4 figures.

2 days after getting back the drivers front tyre webt flat - I changed to the spare (stock 18" wheels) car wheels are 22" overfinch supersports.

I drove it a cpl of hours later and it would not shift past 4th. It still changes up to 6 in manual but will not in d or s. I have taken it to 2 X Rover specialist who have confirmed there is no fault codes and that trans still changes in man so must be an electronic issue.

I have also tried with no luck auto trans specialists no go either.

to avoid spending more thousands (IE one said to spend $1900 servicing auto and it maybe will help- not even a 50/50 they reckon .

any advicd ? I'm lead to believe from my research the spare tyre could be causing this?

What are the tyre sizes on the spare and the 22"s? However even if the 22" have an overall larger diameter that the spare then only ABS may activate when it shouldn't, not limit the gears. I'd take it back to the workshop that did the repairs.

Your spare shouldn't be 18" because it would only fit the rear - it should be 19" minimum.

Get your flat fixed and fit it and your tranny will be back to normal. Trust me. Your 18" is different circumference and is winding up your drive train . Wont be doing your diff any good either.

It might be helpful to others if you stated what the 2 tyre sizes are. Rims sizes don't tell the story.

20” rims and tyres come up on eBay & Gumtree fairly regularly. I would buy a set to replace the 22s & 18” wheels, with 265/50/20 tyres.
