Guys, I've been out of the loop for a while but finally I'm back. I have an 03 Disco HSE V8 which is pretty much a street car as it has the 18" wheels. I have managed to put some At tyres on it and this has helped tremendously but I am also keen on suggestions for additional accesories from you guys. I don't want to turn it into a monster, I just want advise on what could be done to enhance it. I have no bar on the front as I don't see the need as I don't expect to need a winch and rarely do any night time driving in the bush.
So apart from having my CB and AT tyres what would you guys suggest as viable and no-nonsense or must have accesories to add to my baby? Perhaps shocks but there is apparantly more to this than meets the eye with the ACE and SLS gear already on board...These things are pretty good off-road to start with and I don't want to cover it with all the toys unless they are going to be used. Perhaps I'm a tight **** but I also dont want to look too much like a ******. (some may argue this already...):)

Seriously, if you don't want bars and protection equipment etc, and you've got decent rubber, the only thing I'd suggest is a decent set of recovery gear and a hand winch.

And if you plan on heading out thisaway dont get one of those AULRO stickers with your username on it.
And there is nothing wrong with looking like a ******, I've made a career out of it.:D

good points, perhaps I should also put a bigger lock on my fuel tank..........

What about bash plates? Are they really that usefull when 4wding or more for the guys who want to tear up the bush at 100MPH? I was perhaps thinking of a steering guard with recovery points as this would fix my lack or front recovery points and have the additional protection. What say you or am I pulling my plonker?

rated recovery points front and rear would be the most important things I would imagine..

Guys,

The D3 (& RRS) come standard with "rated" recovery points, suitable for snatching and other offroad recovery techniques.

cool, mine is an 03 D2. What is the best solution for front recovery points? I would consider a steering protector plate with integrated recovery points if they are any good (and if you know where I can get a decent one that suits).

Nothing wrong with pulling your plonker, I've made a career out of it.:D

I think some sort of bash platey type thing is good insurance, you can still do damage at a lot less then 100mph.However, my own rig is overkill, Im the first to admit.

Oops:redface: can't read properly. Check the points on your car though. Apparently....from the 03 on (and I don't know if or how they are different), are OK for offroad recovery, but I'd be checking them, or getting them checked anyway

I'm not aware of a local supplier for a bash plate with integrated recovery points. The following suppliers should do both:

Without a bullbar you only have 2 options for front recovery points, tow hook bolted to the chassis available from your ARB's, Opposite Lock etc. or Jate Rings available from Troutbeck Sales or other Land Rover specialists.

I'd recommend a rear towbar if you don't have one already, buy a hitch receiver with shackle to be used for recovery.

P.S: Look for a company called Outback Ideas (no website) they manufacture recovery points for Jap mobiles etc. They sell their gear through Opposite Lock and ARB but not sure if they do any for a D2 .. worth a look.

Once you got all of these recovery points fitted and gear secured in the back do a 4WD course with recovery techniques demonstrated.

No point in carrying it if you aren't confident to use it safely.

What do you want to enhance it for? Is it like touring, grubbiness, harder 4Wding, shopping etc.

Some tougher 4WDing. I've done the whole Fraser Island thing half a dozen times and no real problem. I just want to make sure I cover any of the must haves for some harder work. As it is relatively new (MY03) and an HSE with a road bias and used 95% of the time on the road. I don't see the need for a bull bar for example (I don't need a winch and if I do I'll bring someone along who has one and I do no night driving in the bush), I am just looking for the most sensible/realistic accesories. I have front (sort of) and rear recovery points, CB, AT tyres and this is all great, i've never been caught out but I guess I'm trying to give it a slightly more ballsy appearance without being rediculous and adding stuff that will never be used, ala utes with 30 foot antennas and kenworth mudflaps!
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Theres not a lot left,, ride height is-- difficult,

tyres are an option,, lots of dollars and some body work,,

maybe think lockers ?
