This solution will not be as pretty, but will let more light through, also cost next to nothing if you make the covers yourself. There are several ways to do this, but the simplest is to find some old fridge wire shelves, cut them to size. spray-paint them, bend to required shape and fix them with aluminium strips and self tapping screws.

Every car I've ever owned that had plastic headlight protectors ..... On removal of the protectors light output easily increased by 50% .... If you don't believe me try it :)

I agree. Had the plastic guards on my P38 and it was only a matter of time before they cracked. That's why I made the wire ones for my 94 Classic - cost nothing, do not block any light

My 80" with tractor lights behind the grill even with halogen bulbs in them give about as much light as a candle . If am going to use it at night I usually remove the grill that way I can see were I am going.[biggrin]

I think I have a couple of those cool-looking black metal guards in the shed that were fitted as dealer accessories in the day, and the matching rear tail-light guards as well. From memory they a plastic dipped, and the plastic coating is less than perfect. Will post photos if that's what you're looking for.

Hello sirs,
Posting here from USA. I’ve used AULRO many times over the years when fussing with my various rovers, but for obvious reasons I’ve never joined the conversation! I’ve currently got an 03 D2, an 06 D3, and a 94 RRC, though I’ve had a dozen over the years.
Anyhow, I stumbled across this thread in my continuously fruitless search for headlight covers for my LWB. I’ve refurbished my rears, but I simply cannot locate any fronts.
If any of you fellas still have the aforementioned covers/guards, and would consider shipping them to the USA, my LWB would be one step closer to complete!
Thanks, or thanks anyway!

As they are bog standard 7" headlights, the cost of replacement isn't very high. I wouldn't bother with guards.
Also, it's much easier to keep them clean without fitted guards.

this isn’t a function thing, it’s an aesthetic component of my restoration

Then you need the genuine item. Have you asked on RangeRovers.net?

I’ve scoured landroversonly, landroverforums, and rangerovers.
this thread is the hottest lead I have at the moment!

Does anyone in the Pacific Coast LR club have a set? (I got their T-shirt but that's all :) )
What about Lamorna Garage in Seattle (they had a fair bit of stuff when I visited them some years back)? Lamorna Garage -- Seattle Washington's Independent Land Rover and Range Rover Specialists (http://www.lamornagarage.com/index.html)

I have a set of 4 on my LSE plus one spare, the only trouble being I'm refurbishing, and I haven't decided whether I am prepared to sell them yet. If I eventually do, I will post on here for sale first.

I haven’t thought to check with lamorna, I didn’t know they wrecked.
there’s another dedicated British wrecker in west Seattle who came up empty.
thanks for the idea!

Also last I checked PCRC was very small and dwindling. I don’t know anybody who’s a member, perhaps I should pay $35 to join and see.

I don’t know if Lamorna wrecked, I was referring to accessories.
Re the club, the chap who took me along seems to have disappeared from RangeRovers.net. I’ve tried contacting him recently to no avail.
What about down in Portland? There seems to be a few Landie specialists down there.
Maybe Vancouver? (Canada, not WA :) )

I haven’t checked any Canadian resources, that’s a fair idea.

If you decide to sell, I’d love to take a crack at buying them!
