Ok Gold coasters,

only a bit of time to the run, Would you prefer to do a night run on the saturday night or sit around a camp fire and tell lies about how good we went that day.

If we do a night run it will be G4 so we may need to double up or carry passengers, those who don't want to subject their vehicles to this. This run will have a degree of recovery happening I think.

Sounds interesting Glen, i'll be honest, never done a night run and especially never done a G4 orange night run.....will decide nearer if I take my baby for some night manouvers but keen to see if anyone else is up for it.

Looking forward to the weekend though.

If I am able to go, which I should know by next Friday, Id me more likely to be a passenger. The D3 is probably up for it, but dunno bout the driver  . And thanks Glen for the info re; kids though at 7 & 9 dunno if they'd be scooting around driving a car just yet  . If I can make it, what would be the drive time from say Brisbane as that is where I will be coming from after Ashton's soccer game, thanks,

Hey guys will only be able to make a run on the saturday as I have visitors from sydney coming to stay. Be good to get a track where I can use the pivoting radius arm and get the cob webs out. Hey mick those wombat holes gave your D2 a good work out very impressed how it went.

thats all good guys. I am really keen to get the group together for sat night, I may have long term project car ready. But either way I will be having a good time in either disco ute. If we have 2 or 3 for the night run that will be good. We can travel out and those who don't want to drive can park up and watch or jump in with someone. I will have a spare seat, any takers?

Stevo 8 & 9 year olds can drive with an adult, my young bloke is only 9, they will have a ball, the rangie locked in first low and the front shaft is out so they can't get into much trouble. there is alway the play station.

If we have 2 or 3 for the night run that will be good.

Alright, i'm in for the night run, need to see just how far all the money I have spent on the beast will take me:eek: Happy to have a couple of passengers for the run although i'll limit it to 2 max (3 in car total including me) Have done a few runs with full cars and it makes a huge difference to preformance plus if we roll...........................................les s people hurt:eek:

Hey mick those wombat holes gave your D2 a good work out very impressed how it went.

Loved those wombat holes, my favourite type of driving just now........imagine how she will go with a bit more droop. Definitely needed a still and movie camera there that day and I should have driven yours through so you could see the flex...very impressive!

Justin

Just got home from a job hence no phone call about the springs but definately next week some time.

No probs, catch up with you soon and I reckon we will be able to find something next weekend to test both rigs - if your springs are longer, do you think it is wise to fit them and play next weekend or will this screw something else up?

Can those definitely coming please confirm here and also which day(s) you will be there and whether you are staying in Glen's pad/games room thingy or tenting/swagging/camper trailering. Stevo

Hi Stevo, fair question, as I don't think it is going to be wet out there this weekend, I would say that with all the electronic gadgetry in the D3, your tyres should cope - Glen would you agree knowing where you are going to take us? Have you determined if you have rated recovery points front and rear, as this trip is likely to throw up a few recovery scenarios and recovery points would be my first concern on the D3 or any other car, before tyres?

Will keep you posted Stevo once I hear back from Glen.

Hey Mick,

I double check but Im pretty sure it has them both front and back, I know for sure on the back as that was where I was pulled out on Bribie  and from the recovery day at my place we checked the front as well. At least if I can go and I have this confirmation I will know that Im not wasting anyones time, if you know what I mean :)

Stevo,

D3 is supposed to have front and rear, that are rated for off road recovery, i.e. snatching, violent pulling (yes we are still talking 4wding here).
The front is behind a plastic cover you have to remove, (unscrewing plastic lugs i believe), no idea where the rear is, sorry.

LoadedDisco
5th June 2006, 04:47 PM
Stevo,
The rear is the same you have to remove the rectangle plastic cover on the rear bumper. The recovery mounts on the D3 are very good no need to upgrade them.

Stevo your tyres will be fine.

The saturday night run will be the hardest of all, those who wish to attend can drive to the area where we will set up a muster point with coffee and food. This area is condensed with the trtacks being all close together. there are some steepish climbs and desents along with other fun things.

We will have 4 or 5 vehicles on the night run. there is no embarrasment here so please take note. Any driver who is not prepared to drive a track or is not confident please speak up. Do this before you damage your truck.

There is no doubt we will be recovering vehicles. Saturday night will be an oppertunity to do some more technical recoveries as a group.

How about some directions,

From the gold coast, M1 to Logan motorway, follow to Ipswich Motor way, Toowoomba exit from Ipswich motorway. This is the warrego Hwy. about 10 mins to black soil. Caltex and BP servos here turn right over Hwy to Esk this is brisbane valley hwy. about 12 mins to fernvale. Look for the butcher shop on the right, here turn left to Clive St. About 300mtrs on right is no. 26 see all the rovers parked around the place.

Hope that is easy enough to follow.

Well men we have had about 3.54 drops of rain, Hope we get more tomorrow. Best time to drive in the rain.

see you all in the morning.

Over the last several months I have been talking to a group for access to some very hard terrain, looks like this may well go ahead so the next run I put on will be G4 only. max 4 vehicles. Justin, Mick, rite up your ally. maybe august sometime.

Saturday I have some extra vehicles with us, those being Syd King and Dave Smith, these guys are long time 4wd buddies. they drive a 5ltr Bush Rangie and a 96 disco. both vehilces are double locked and run big tyres. They never miss one of my harder runs and are a lot of fun and members of LROCB.

see you here tomorrow.

PS CAMO you can go hard saturday night lets see what this rangie is really like.

Sounds good, will be there this time. Make a definate date and I'll endeavor to make sure NOTHING gets in the way this time.

By the way, had a good weekend at Levuka, had to hand winch myself out of the **** so it wasn't too easy which was a relief ;) . Had plenty of rain on the Saturday so it made it challenging.

Hope all those who attended had a good one.
