There has been a lot of preparation of the old bird happening over the past 12 months at the aviation museum that has been visible from the Stuart Highway as you drive past.
It was in regular daily use by Air North in the early 80s when I first arrived in Darwin. In fact they had at least one other at one stage and they worked overtime each March ferrying people to and from the Tiwi footy grand final.
I may be wrong, and am happy to be corrected, but my understanding is that it is the original MMA from MacRobertson Miller Airlines, however the current aircraft register entry shows it first registered in Australia 1976 although this may have been when it passed to Air North/Hardy Aviation.

We used to refer to MMA as Mickey Mouse airlines back in the 70's and 80's

News reports are saying last passenger in the plane was Bear Grills , who parachuted from it.
Not that that is any great endorsement[bigwhistle]

Did Connair fly VH-MMA?
I can remember seeing it fly out of Darwin but can't recall the livery.
I'm trying to remember the names of a couple of pilots who flew it , can see their faces but blowed if I can remember names.

What year/s? Air North were flying it in their old Territory colours livery in mid-82 when I arrived.

It could well have been Macrobertson Miller Airlines. I don't think Connellan used them did they?
