Good day
seeing that the isuzu is a common conversion in Aus please could you assist.
i have a defender 90 300tdi which has a R380 Gbox.
i have already purchased the adapter plate to bolt up the engine to the r380.
what mounts can be used to eliminate any reconstruction of the chassis.
i would prefer today to bolt on without any welding to my chassis.
Many thanks in advance

mellinHi,
The 4JB1 is not a common conversion in Aus, the Isuzu 3.9 4BD1 however was fitted to some S3 stage 1 Land Rovers, some early 110's and all Aus Defence Force Perenties.
The 4BD1 is a very different engine to the 4JB1.
A few people have swapped the 4BD1 into Defenders, Range Rovers, Discovery's and FC101s using LT95, R380 and LT77 Land Rover gearboxes or Isuzu MSA gearboxes.

Hi Mellin.
I'm looking to do something very similar very soon. I am planning to use a 4JH1 engine for 3.0l capacity. The 4JB1 was not a common conversion here but there are a few about.
Where did you get your adaptor plate from? I think M & D Engineering in the UK did kits including engine mounts with everything just bolted up. I've been trying to contact them with no success yet...
I'm scoping either using a 2WD Isuzu/Box behind it and remote mounted LT230, or going R380/LT230. Both have pros and cons.... It is going in a series Forward Control so much more latitude to modify mounts etc to make it fit.
Cheers, Chris.

thanks for the feedback.
i bought the conversion it was in a chaps landy but he decided he wanted a v8 this is in South Africa.
the problem was the mounts he used was standard doughnut mounts and they were too hard and caused vibration throughout the chassis .
thats the reason why im querying mounts .
