Hello team,

Today I installed the TD5 head back onto the motor. However, I kept the timing cover off. I proceeded to install the timing cover and realized I could not get the cover into position due to the stud/nut on one side of the cover (other side is bolt installed from top). Not wanting to take off the fully torqued head, I removed the stud from the timing cover and installed it. I left the stud floating above the threads thinking I could loctite it into place after and then torque down to 18ft lbs (recommended for both the bolt and stud/nut on the timing cover). Well as soon as I drove it into place, it never did loctite. It just spins when I try to bolt it down.

Trying to solve this issue without taking the head off. I was thinking of thinking of cutting the stud (since it cant be removed from the top and I have no way to drive it all the way down to remove from the bottom) and replacing it with a M8 stud with two M8 nuts (one on each end) or driving a M8 bolt through the bottom and using an M8 nut on top. Either way, I am thinking sandwiching the timing cover to the head is the only way to get the required 18 ftlbs.

#6 is the stud in question.

Would love to hear some thoughts.
