So please share every little detail about the spec you ordered. Are you getting any dealer add-ons that the factory won’t be taking care of?

So - my order is this:
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
Defender 110 D240 SE
Pangea Green
Khaki interior
Active Diff w/ torque vectoring
Tow Hitch receiver
Solar Att windscreen
Privacy Glass
+++++++++++++++++++++++++
I wanted the activity key (I like swimming) but that is not available .. also things like winch mount, explorer kit etc .. quite a few things are "not selectable" according to local LR guy.
The only one that scares me is the key .. LR says that is a factory option.
From what I can gather there will be a lot of dealer ad-ons to come at a later date. Some of the options in the online configuration thingey are just not ready yet.

The activity key, according to the Aus spec guide is a $910 option across all variants , as long as you have keyless entry, which all variants do. What excuse did the guy give for not being able to configure it? You won't be able to get that added later.

There are bulletins that come from LR Aus to the dealers with what can be ordered etc. There are many options on the new Defender that are not available. You can order them - not a problem - but if they are not in stock then your order is delayed.
Got in touch with a guy in the LR parts area and he stated that if you can get a part number off an LR catalog then you should be able to check price & availability with any parts mob in the LR network.

What is the warranty period on the new Defender?
Just checked the LR site and it says three years. That to my mind is something they need to look at. Nearly everyone else is five years. I heard ads for FORD and KIA stating their cars have a seven year warranty. How easy it is to get them to enforce it is another matter.
In the UK it states three years unlimited mileage. On the Irish site it states three years or 100,000kms. with no option of the extended warranty package. How are you Antipodeans fairing out warranty wise?

So I take it that all vehicles manufactured will be to some customers orders.
Will there be demos and showroom specials and what spec will they be?
I received an email saying 3 demos were already here in Australia but no one will confirm where they are.
I think we are already being bull****ted to by Land Rover Australia.
is it true it's now going to be August or later before they will be seen here?
I can walk into any other brand dealership and get all info , delivery dates , availabilities, colours , specification, honest drive away prices.
Land Rover can't or won't do that. I'm really tiring of the whole thing.

I have given up on it as well.
Even what i have seen doesn't sound enticing.
Getting the business tax write off would have been good, but that will be long gone by the time it is here.
More than likely i will eventually be off to another brand.

The factory was shut down for 2 months because of the pandemic, so it's not surprising there has been some confusion about dates.

it's not confusion about dates....it's continual bull**** from LR sales teams.
they only need to tell the truth , bull****ting doesn't bring delivery dates closer , it just distances you from the brand.
you get to the point where you don't want to talk to the sales staff at all.
I hope they are reading this and taking note.

JLR should take factory pics of customers new vehicles, as would be cheap self generating marketing effort by customer.

Absolutely - if Dominos can do it for a grubby pizza, surely JLR can manage it :)

Rob hows your delivery date looking. My vehicle is on the Tonsberg which is now a week behind,
so delivery to the dealer was originally the 18th Sept and slipped to the 25th, assume i will see it
around the first week of October by the time they add all the toys..

Yea, similar story. I went in for a test drive of a D240 last week and asked the "are we there yet?" question. He couldn't tell me the ship it's on but did say early October delivery to me.

Good things are worth waiting for.
Covid has caused massive disruptions everywhere and Aus is a small market. Tough situation to launch a new car.
Try getting a new fuel unjected Stihl chain saw in Hobart😐. Dealer had one demo that had to go back and the USA is taking most production.
Why?..well it's simply maximising profits by shipping more units in a given time frame to where the biggest demand exists.
Relax...it will happen..😎

We recently had to get a new microwave and a sandwich maker.
The shelves in the normal shops were bare, eventually after a lot of wasting time, got the last microwave at a place and it was the brand and model we really didn’t want.
Same with toasted sandwich maker, last one they had,it was the demo one.
The shop staff have no idea when new stock will be in.
Look on the shop web sites and the info is wrong,in stock, but when you ring, nothing.[bigsad]
Things go in threes,so no doubt something else will die in the next week or so.[bigsad][thumbsupbig]
