There is a specific superglue for automotive mirrors, but the brand escapes me. All auto shops will have it.

Got a Permatex Extreme Mirror OME Glue Kit from Repco , will see how it goes . It is measure twice and cut once procedure so following the instructions to the letter is important . I did a few trial fits once i got the mirror and all the wire s apart + getting the button sorted for which way up etc before attaching to the windshield .

Just as a matter of interest, when I had my D1 Mirror stuck back on by O'Briens the bloke eyed off my Shed entry cement path & used that to give the plastic flange a good seeing to clean & level it & to give it a good glueing surface. I don't know what adhesive he used but whatever it was stuck like **** to a blanket & it was securely in place for a few years before I got rid. May still be for all I know.

Used the flat side of the fine wheel on my electric grinder to clean up the button . You only have to use one Drop of the glue , " ONE DROP " !! must say i was tempted to use more of the glue but decided that Permatex must know best [bigrolf] .

Same thing I suppose. I would hope so. Clean & no surface residue of any type seems to be way with most of these things, not quantity. Oh & plus the adhesive.[bigrolf]
