Hi, does anyone have a failed EGT sensor? How difficult is it to replace? Based on YouTube of other makes EGT replacement, it is an easy job but my dealer is quoting me 5 hours of labour (>$1k)?

Is it the one in the left (passenger) side exhaust manifold? If so then I understand that the correct selection of tools makes it quite a reasonable task, similar to the same job on the L322.

It has a PD040D error code. Total labour was 5.3 hours or $650. Just want to know if I have been ripped off so that I won’t return.

I don't recognise the fault code as it seems to not be standard LR format so possibly from a generic code reader. If your vehicle is 2013/2014 and the faulty sensor was the one in the left manifold then the fault is unlikely to re-occur as the early sensors were problematic. The sensor in my L322 is faulty but doesn't cause any problems as my vehicle doesn't have a DPF for which the sensor must be working.

Should read P0040.

Which sensor is it JC?
Edit: It appears to be for the sensor in the left manifold.
