Gentlemen,

Is there anyone in Australia who overhauls Series 1 steering boxes? Mine is a 1953 Series 1 80"

regards

overhauling them is easy..

getting the bits.... not quite so.

Most of them come from the UK and if they're not britparts are bespoke in limited numbers with matching prices

Not sure who overhauls them locally but parts would probably have to come from the UK as Blknight mentions.
Most of the usual UK suppliers have parts for late Series I boxes.

Parts:-
Land Rover Series 1 Steering Manual Box | John Craddock Ltd (https://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/series/series-1/parts/steering/steering-manual-box/)
Rebuilds :-
Series One, II, IIa, 3 and Steering Relay (http://www.ics-steeringspecialist.co.uk/bespoke-engineering/series-one-ii-iia-and-3-land-rover)
Seems that ICS make the parts so might sell them as spares ?? Worth contacting them.

I think the issue is the early worm and nut box, not the later recirculating ball box that came, from memory, with the 86".

Yes, I should have been more specific - I think that it changed during 86" production. And, of course, what is actually fitted now may not be original!
