Finally took the new one on its maiden dirt outing this arvo,, (and being a former Toorak tractor it could well have BEEN its maiden dirt road:lol:)

Wanted to try the ABS, see if all the "rear door dust" posts were true, try out hill decent and traction control.

Well, the ABS is a marvel,, though the first shudder through the pedal is definatly weird:eek:
finding maximum brake effort is easy in the D1,, just lock everything up. simple.
ABS sort of complicates it a little,, how hard do you push? do you push till it pulses at you? but if the rubble suddenly disappears and your left with a good friction surface-- no pulse! and normal reaction is to push harder again,,,
I hope I'm making sense here--
anyway after a couple of 100kay to zero stops,, ABS- 2 thumbs up!

You gotta love autos uphill,, then add traction control, a little left foot braking and bingo!
over confidence :lol::p
It does make slow work much easier, though I hope all the noises coming from up front were supposed to be there!!
The jury 's still out on HDC,, I need a bigger hill:lol:
but all the press is right,, it does seem fast!
Even Mrs Pedro said " you sure you pressed the button" :D

Hi Pedro
Good to see it lived up to your expectations.
ABS press hard as you can and hold it there,DONT BACK OFF WHEN THE PEDAL "RATTLES" thats the ABS doing its job.
HDC find a very big steep SAFE hill and use it.You wont ever again:rolleyes:
TC wait to you go up a steep sandtrack where there are cross axle mounds all the way up,you will crawl up with the greatest of ease!!!
ENJOY

I was impressed with the traction control the one time I was a passenger with a D2.

i dont like the ABS for off road either pedro!
you cant tell how much pedal pressure you have anymore.
just wait till your in a sphincter stretching situation and the brake pedal starts to kick!

now where to put the switch to turn it on and off:cool:

cheers phil
