Got a bit bored this arvo as it was pee ing with rain in Hobart (very unusual) and I finished the Sudoku quickly, and it was too cold in the garage (7 deg) and couldn't be bothered getting motivated & firing up the gas heater, so got searching on U-tube for Disco stuff.

Have you found "Land Rover Discovery Ultimate Off Road Travel... Baboons Pass" ?
Is a 4 part 2012 adventure in Sth Africa.

Considering it's a bog std D4 with Duratrac (?) tyres it does an outstanding job and highlights just how special our cars are.

If you can put up with the producer/narrator's slightly pompous attitude it is well worth a watch particularly #'s 2/3/4

The D3/4 is a superb offroad vehicle standard straight out of the box if you didn't already know. [bigwhistle][tonguewink]
I can image it would do extraordinary things when "tricked" a bit.

That’s a great 4 part series, thanks for posting. Interesting to see that he did it with 43 psi in his tyres. I would have thought that 28 psi would have been better

Ha ha.. we bailed out of our shed...no doors no heater..three young strapping blokes all dressed like sheep could not hack the Huon freezing wind and rain...so we all went inside☺

Would have gone to the pub if it was open 😃

Yes they are very capable as the vid shows...and the heater comes on real early in our SC😎

Totally underrated vehicles by most non owners. Even the early non TR l322 is just amazing. Took my '05 td6 to skytrek and was having a great time until the 11yo front left strut developed a catastrophic loss of air...😢.
Have taken the tdv8 on a LROCT club snow and dirt trip and again it was totally unfussed and nowhere close to its capabilities .

Could not agree more, just spent 5 days at Bendleby Station in SA mid-north. The tracks are fantastic, some incredible views from the lookouts and some BIG downhills, one which Pat Callinan featured on his TV show.Pat Callinan's 4X4 Adventures | The Essence of 4X4 Adventure - Bendelby Ranges: A four-wheeler’s paradise (https://mr4x4.com.au/bendelby-ranges-a-four-wheelers-paradise/)

To say I was impressed with the D4's ability would be an understatement, but it's not only it's fundamental ability but the serene nature of the way it went about going up and down the tracks, no mad wheel spin or high speed run ups, bouncing all over the tracks just seemingly effortless controlled progress. The ability to switch some of the "aids" off and on as needed, use different terrain response settings and play with all the toys was great. The surround cameras got a real workout, watching those big rocks just miss the compomotives was excellent. Had so much fun I am going back in a few weeks.

It impressed another group of people in two older patrol as well, (especially the ability to change suspension heights) with big tyres and lifts and just to add to the proof, my mate with his new D5 on standard 19" road tyres went everywhere I went, so no issue with the D5 being any less capable.
