Nesting camp cookware

Looking at a compact cookware set for the back of the car and have seen numerous types of cheap aluminium nesting sets from about $15 up, anyone use a set they can recommend that wont break the bank ?

Usually just 2, 3 at the max. I have other gear in the camper trailer so i just want a small kit for when i'm swagging it.

Something like this but much less.

Hi,
Check out some of the Trangia Teflon range at outdoors shops. They may be a bit light for what you want, being designed for bushwalking, but may pack small enough to suit your needs.

When I am swagging it all I take is a wok with a lid so that I can also use it as a stewpot and a small grillplate, These can be used on the gas stove or on an open fire [thumbsupbig]
Oh and of course a kettle with a whistle on it for my coffee.
These take up bugger all room and I also stow away my tin plate, bowel, mug and fighting irons inside the wok[biggrin]

Trangia is the original and best and you can get a small canister gas burner to fit where the spirit burner goes.

however check that SWMBO will use it as mine won't.

ALDI had a set a while ago which I bought and am waiting to open my camper trailer to substitute the current mess of kitchen pots..

Snowys camping have great stuff but depends on what you mean by cheap. The nesting , handle off saucepans are ace but expensive.

You D3 blokes think $2000 to change a timing belt is cheap so maybe you can get the Snowys deluxe stuff.

Country general stores and stock and station outfitters always had nests of billies available. Check them.

Google billy cans and nest of billies. Dozens of results. Sizes, materials. Plenty of choice.

This is the set I've been using for over 40 years. The large and small one get very little use, normally just need the medium one plus a medium camp oven. Although they came with lids, I don't use them as I found it makes very little difference to the cooking time and you can check things easier without them. I usually wrap the large & small one in newspaper to stop rattling while in transit.
The billy lifters are the best design I've ever experienced but unfortunately they are difficult to find in stores these days. As well as the billies, I've used them on the camp oven and also the odd tin of baked beans or similar.

I use a single burner butane stove or fire for cooking so just a compact set with pots and a frying pan, doesn't need to be ultralight.
Looked at snowy's and they have the 360Furno set which looks ok although a little exxy for my scottish blood.
2k to change a rubber band no thanks, will do that myself.

Go get yourself a can of peaches and a wire coat hanger. I am sure you will be able to fashion a handle out of the wire coat hanger and that will get you a cheap Billie. I was going to suggest a hub cap for a frypan but a metal hub cap is likely to cost more than a Billie set.
