My battery is starting to get a bit doughy with the cold weather;
Are the Varta AGM G14 batteries still the preferred option ? Just that Autobahn has them on special for $419.30 at the moment, or is there another preferred option? I have had no experience with these type of batteries befor, just used to get biggest CCA version that fitted [bigwhistle]

I had a Varta G14 in my TD6 before I got rear-ended 4-5 years ago, but then the car wouldnt start.
Changed over to a Delkor AGM LN5 which didnt start it,but thats another story tho..
The Delkor is still going strong after fixing whatever was wrong with the car after the accident.
I kept the Varta as a back up battery and kept it charged up with a small solar charger attached to it,that was still going
when I gave it to a mate before I moved down to Tassie.
So either one would do.
cheers

I suggest an AGM for better recovery after short runs due to them accepting a higher charge rate coupled with LR's charging strategy on 2010+ models.

Which battery would you recommend, as I will also be putting Tim's dual battery setup in at a later date ?

I have the Varta G14 start/stop but have no experience with other brands. Mine still needs an occasional charge after extended periods of short runs.
I have a 100Ah AGM deep cycle in the rear but it doesn't feed back to the main battery unless I manually bypass the VSR with an emergency switch.

Can you send a picture of where you fit a 100A in the rear. I have a Optima under the floor on rear drivers side corner (where the tray used to be).

I'll get a picture when the showers stop but it is in the same right rear corner, albeit with the back edge of the plastic surround that is normally hidden by the side cover removed. The floor flap still locates properly with no indication of anything abnormal.
