New clutch not disengaging and motor not shutting down.

I replaced the clutch in my Td5 130 last weekend, new clutch plate, pressure plate, flywheel, throwout bearing and spigot bush. Fitted together last weekend, but didn't get the job finished till today. Started it up, depressed clutch pedal, plenty of pedal, pressure takes up after about an inch of pedal travel, but could not engage gears. I managed to force it into reverse, bit of a crunch then stalled. Long story short the clutch is not disengaging. to top all this off, the engine will not stop when you turn the ignition off. When I assemebled the clutch I wiped down the flywheel and pressure plate with a little degreaser on a rag to remove any oily residue. The weather has been damp while I have been working on it. I am wondering if the flywheel and prrssure plate may have corroded, causing the clutch plate to become frozen to the flywheel and pressure plate. I know this can happen over a long period of time, but am wondering if with the right conditions it could happen in a week.
Hoping the brains trust here might have some ideas.

Put it in a high gear, push the clutch in and get someone to tow the vehicle a little, should break the bond on the clutch if it has corroded. Alternatively you could try putting it a high gear, handbrake on brakes on and hit the starter.

An easy mistake Mate and i would think that many have done the same including myself[biggrin]

Done it twice, The cheaper non gen plates dont all come with the markings, and I turned up to do the first one I got wrong as an install that was part way done...

the second time, I was drunk and not paying enough attention so put it in the same way a clutch plate always goes in... And was wrong

you now know why I generally dont drink and work, even if it is on a mates rates easy job (that and as I now mostly drive a truck or ride a MC as private transport which is best done 00)
