Can't remember the specific thread, but there was a radio place in Launceston that was developing a comprehensive media system upgrade kit for the base 2010 D4 radio.

I have just received a status report where they advise that due to a significant increase in work, they have to shelve the project for the foreseeable future.

Bummer, so hope one of the other electronic whiz kids around might be talked into progressing the idea to fruition if they can't get back to it!

2010 model

Alpine double-din, the original screen is relocated to the glovebox, can still change the clock, date, etc by using the buttons & looking inside the glovebox, a steering wheel control adaptor is used to have the volume & track-skip buttons work with the Alpine. The speaker outputs from the Alpine run into the original "Harman Kardon" amp, sub still works, etc. Has a reverse camera.

Not really my cup of tea but it's been done.

Thanks Cambo, had seen this one/thread before. The one Launceston was working on appeared to provide a more seamless changeover, but maybe now we will never know?

I too have seen that set up in another thread.

My only concern is if their is a loss in Audio quality running everything through a AUX compared to using a USB input ect.

But I maybe wrong.

cheers

This is not the same one, it's a different car to what I have posted in other threads.

That one in the pic above has the speaker outputs from the Alpine head unit running to the inputs of the Harman Kardon amp, the original head unit is out of the loop for sound.

If you're talking about the factory AUX input in the 2005-2009 D3/RRS with the Android screen, the sound quality was fine.
