It appears that corrosion of the alloy groove or the pinch bolt has expanded and split the alloy casting. Very nasty if it happened when on the motorway.

That’s amusing. So are the comments on FFRR....

What is amusing?

The ridge is to assist locking the joint in place, the joint is dry - so lends itself to poor assembly.

And the over dramatic “could have died” posts.

I see more sensible posts have gone up since, and the previous history of a 5 yo vehicle are now being discussed.

UK and it’s salted roads is murder on vehicles - the fact the joint is bone dry - I wonder if it ever went in the floods.

And what dealer delivers a FFRR with the build stickers still on the rear seats? Sounds odd!
