Hey people, has anyone removed the transfer case from the back of the transmission while the body was still on. If so how and what tools were needed. I had removed the transmission and the transfer together to repair the torque converter and fit new friction discs to the transmission. Finally got it all together only to find oil leaking between the transmission and transfer case.
I don’t want to pull the transmission back out as once was enough.
Thanks

Its easy, the top bolts need to be accessed with the crossmember removed and dropped down to let the transfer case rest on the fuel tank guard, short 13mm ring spanner required there, and to get enough purchase to crack undone you need to use a prybar or similar from underneath to push up on one side and lever down from the floor on the other side.

And then you will need to raise the transmission back up again, so the transfer case will clear the fuel tank guard on its way rearward.
