Hi All,
The worn pads light has come on for the front pads on my MY10 Disco 4 SDV6 so looking for recommendations or alerts which products to stay away from?
Anyone got any good packages worth buying?
Thanks in advance.

it's all about your application, extra heavy duty, heavy duty or normal based on what you do, I have fitted Delios rotors and DBA XP (Xtreme Performance) pads, low dust and stop really well.

What PeterJ says. I value off-road ability highly, so for me it's original discs and pads.

RDA rotors and Bosch pads have been successful at a good price

RDA slotted rotors and TRW pads work for me. The RDA pads have a black finish that stops them rusting and look great. Next set of pads I'll try Ferodo or Akebono. Stay away from Bendix 4wd heavy duty pads, unless you like really noisy brakes and mediocre stopping power.

DBA slotted rotors and Pedders ceramic discs work for me. Fronts only atm.

Pedders ceramic pads now front and back. Have been good so far. Apparently from same factory as Akebono.

DBA slotted rotors and TRW DTEC ceramic pads all around. Great stopping power and feel.
Bonus low/no dust which I wasn't looking for but happy with.

RDA and Bendix 4wd pads so far v good..little bit dusty but not too bad. Do not buy pads from Repco tho as they are 2x+ the Sparesbox price.🤤

I'm in the hunt again. Tried ordering TRW DTEC locally, learnt the hard way.
The last TRW I put on were standard and dusty with an occasional low speed squeak. Bite isn't great.
Which Pedders ceremic did you get? I see they do plain ceremic, Kevlar ceremic in track Ryder and sports euro? Any low speed noise at all.
I have RDA rotors on mine, great life. The DBA were equally as good

Pedders kevlar ceramic pads and their recommended discs, they are solid not slotted as I really don't go far off-road in mine. It is a d4 so my choices are a bit more limited, I was after Akebono, but at the time they weren't available for the front.

I've got the RDA Slotted & Dimpled rotors and the Akebono pads on my Range Rover Sport for nearly a year now. Excellent combination - much better than the OEM. The Akebono's are excellent. Since I have had them on, there is virtually no brake dust on the rims and the stopping power is excellent - really confidence inspiring. I'm really pleased with them.
I picked up the rotors at Sparesbox for a good price and had the Akebono's shipped from the U.S for half the price of what Pedders was selling them.

Looking on the Advanced factors website, you could lash out and get the brembo 6 pot calipers and 380mm discs....youll only need 20 inch wheels as well.

I just ordered a set of akebono from the states. For those thinking about Bosch euroline pads, the same shop. Rockauto is selling them on special for $25 aud fronts and $30 for rears. I added a set to my order while I was at it.
JC are they the Bosch pads you recommend?

Thanks for suggesting this store- it has good prices. I'm looking at getting new front brake pads for my D4. Did you get the Akebono EUR1479 front brake pads? Any issues?

Just checked my invoice and yes. Got them. Yes happy. Dust is low. Which isn't of concern to me. But they grab and don't make noise. So I'm happy. I've got them on front and EUR 1099B rears with RDA dimpled and slotted.
I also got a full set of Bosch euro pads which I probably won't open for a long time.
Rock Auto is definitely worth a look

So this is a new pad from Akebono that fits the 3.0L brakes? They previously didn’t have one that fit the 3L models

Yep, looks like it. I think they were released mid last year:
AKEBONO EXPANDS ITS PROACT, AKEBONO PERFORMANCE AND EURO DISC BRAKE PAD OFFERING, SEVEN PARTS ADD COVERAGE FOR ALMOST ONE MILLION VEHICLES | Akebono (https://akebonobrakes.com/news/akebono-expands-its-proact-akebono-performance-and-euro-disc-brake-pad-offering-seven-parts-add)
The model for the D4 front pads is EUR1479 and includes wear sensors. They don't show up on the Australian Akebono web catalogue but they do on their US website catalogue. On the US site they say they are compatible with all 2010-2016 "LR4s" including all engine variants (although they only have petrol engines in the US). As suggested by josh.huber I ordered them from Rockauto in the US. About half the price of what Pedders charge for Akebono pads even after shipping.

Forgot to ask - do you have a 3.0L D4?

Yeah i have a 3.0l . I worked out it was the same as the 5.0l V8 petrol and used that to search Rock Auto and cross reference. One set came with sensors. Can't remember if it was front or rears.

Good to hear, should all work out fine then. Yeah I saw that they list these brake pads for all engine variants in the US - both the 5.0L V8 and the 3.0L V6 SC petrol engines. I ordered them yesterday - the front pads come with sensors. Surprised that they aren't listed on the Aussie Akebono web catalogue yet, guess we're a bit behind. Cheers

So the callipers are also the same between 5L V8 and 3L V6 Josh?

Hey Scott,
I'm not sure if there are differences in the calipers, but for my model 3.0L MY11 I was able to cross the pads as a match. I would assume them to be the same but you can never be sure.
