Another movie from Jules Verne's classic book. We all know how it ends , but it never seems to cease to fascinate us.

I liked it. One of my favourite stories, and liked both movies made about it too. So a bit of bias here, but a good watch last night. Looking forward to next episodes.
Oh! also good to see a non US version of it too.

Years ago I was obsessed with these dystopian novels..read them all over and over.. but HG was my favourite. A brilliant author.

Think it led to my strong distrust of Governments and corporations tho😃

Went searching for copies of this and found there was also a 3 part mini series set in the UK turn of the century with Robert Carlyle.

Did anyone else find themselves thinking instead of the characters walking everywhere, they should've found an old TDI 200/300 D1 or Series and removed the fuel solenoid, then they could've driven around, as no electronics to be affected by EMP?

Every time I watch it. Or how about an old tractor with no electrics except for glow plugs.

I enjoyed it at first but now I’m finding it a bit slow. Maybe I need to record 4 episodes at a time and binge.

Thats what i did, watched the first episode on air then found the rest of the series and watched all together.

Really enjoying it.....the sbs series that is.
The Poms do a superior ( cf USA) job of drama incl sci fi, understated and character driven.

After having been captivated with the series so far, I thought the ending was really lame.
The preceding programmes had been chilling and suspenseful.
Hope it can be salvaged with a sequel series.
Peter.

I didn’t get to the end of the second episode without falling asleep.

Well, I reckon they ran out of funding. The last episode was just Pfffft. Like a balloon deflating!

Interestingly, about a year ago I came across (and bought) a book that is a sequel to "War of the Worlds", labelled "Authorised by the H.G.Wells estate". Titled "The Massacre of Mankind", by Stephen Baxter, I was not particularly inspired by it.
