Hi All,
Does any one know why on Rover 3.5 V8 old con rod big end bearing had cut outs at the join for what looks like oil drain away but none of the new ones I can buy have this?

Can you put up some photos so we can have a better idea of the issue?

The notches are for locating not oil.

The notches are for locating not oil.

The locating notches are the other end of the shell bearing.

Is there a hole or groove in either the cap or the rod that ties up with the cutouts ? If not then I'm not sure why they are there unless it's something left over from using the shell bearings in a different conrod ??

Yes Colin, there is a slight grove in the cap and rod that match the hole created by the shells, I have 4 new sets from 4 different companies and none of them have the half holes cut?
