This may be well known to most & I am not saying it will work for others, but at last I seem to have knocked this on the head for me.
After contacting different firms & one saying ,"It won't won't be the Idle Air/Stepper Valve, it'll deffo be the Hot Wire Air Flow Sensor. It always is".
And another saying they can't recall the last time they replaced one, I decided to have a look. Another, "Bring it down & we'll have a look at it for you. We won't muck around, if it's not moving, we'll replace it. $250 thank you + labour."
To cut a long story short (after all you don't wan't to know all the grief that it has caused me:rolleyes:)
I removed it, soaked in Carb & Throttle Body Cleaner for a few hours, blew it out, & applied light Sewing Machine Oil.
Reset the Base Idle Setting as per WM.
Put it back, & it's been fine for a couple of weeks now. Coldest mornings it has started instantaneously & you can see the revs altering as it's supposed to & it now idles magnifique.:D
Come to traffic lights & it drops back steadily to apx. 600 - 650rpm.
But the strange thing is, despite being told that you can hear & see the stepper moving when it's laying on the engine when the ignition is switched on, I can't for the life of me see that happening & yet it obviously is moving ok when it's placed back in the engine.
Anyway, as this problem seems to get mentioned frequently on various Forums, I thought I should make it known what worked for me.
