View Full Version : 2011 V6 RR Sport OIL LEAK help please

So I’ve just picked up my new 2011 Sport, and I’ve got an oil leak. The oil is pooling in the valley below the oil filter. The drip tray is covered in oil.

Can anyone point me in the direction of the usual causes in this area?

Sloppy job on filter change-

Removed too quickly after stopping engine will spill heaps

Not tight enough - see if you can hand turn it tight or loosen.

Cross threaded on reinstalling or forgot o-ring

It does not appear to be coming from the oil filter. Looks more like the oil cooler, from that mystery little hole. Can you buy the gasket for the cooler, or do you have to buy the whole assembly?

Either or can be bought

If the filter was removed early after shut off a huge goop of oil would tumble out.

Why not shoot some degreaser in the v valley and hose it out towards the back of the engine and watch if it comes back.

Yep. Did that yesterday and drove a couple of hours. 163256
