Just might bring the wife in and ask the sales person if he would let myself and the wife "try out the back" as I'd like to see if it was suitable for a romantic weekend away.
That is something JLR didn't think of putting in the promotional blurb.
In relation to the above, someone on Defender2 did point out to me that it does have a wipe clean interior [bigwhistle]

One blatant error they made was not using the same seating arrangement as the D3/4 as from the videos i have seen the middle row doesn't fold completely flat.

I saw a black one and a white one up close today,, the black one is quite imposing....
the white one had a large black antiglare bonnet sticker with "110" at the corner

If the middle row seats don't fold flat then they have lost a sale from me.

The 2nd row in the 110 5 seater do fold flat according to the pictures and the configurator graphics,
not sure on the 5+2 config however, a number of people say they do not

I think the non folding flat issue only arises with the 90 model. The 110 model seems to be O.K. in this respect.

Watched a couple of videos of the 110 and they don't fold perfectly flat from what I've seen unless it was user error.

Correct,a few vids have noted that they don't fold flat like the D4.

I believe Zilch has it right. the 5 seater does fold flat using the same method as the D3/4 but the 7 seater does not. I believe this is because the second row seats on the 7 seater are able to slide forward whereas the 5 seater second row is fixed.

Advantage of the 7 seater 2nd rows seats sliding forward is slightly more boot space with seats up if needed but disadvantage is no completely flat load space when seats are down.

If in doubt RTFM:

And also if a fixed cargo barrier is fitted, such as Milford, sliding the middle row seat may not be helpful for rear room, depending on where the barrier is fitted.

We will have to wait and see what the aftermarket companies come up with.

FWIW,there was a pic on another site of a factory front bar, which is apparently available in Aus.Same as the one in one of the earlier spy pics.
Not a full bumper bar style as most of the bars are here.

That's true. Though, I'd imagine having a barrier would mean that the 2nd row folding flat is less important unless it was easily removable. For that matter you probably wouldn't have 7 seats anyway if a barrier was installed(legal issues?).

Yeah, that bar didn't look the strongest (or the best). It would be better than not having one that's for sure. It'll be interesting to see it in the flesh to see how it fits on the vehicle. I'd guess it wouldn't be any more popular than the one LR had done by ECB (I think it was) for the D4.

Like you say Paul, probably best to see what the aftermarket comes up with....if they decide it's worth it.

Can still have barrier for vehicle with 7 seats. Our last few vehicles have had them, and were 7 seaters.
They supply a break glass type hammer device that clips to the barrier.

But I wouldn’t use the rear seats with a barrier in place,it’s a wonder it isn’t illegal.

There are a few vehicles around that rear barriers can’t be fitted, that’s to do with the rear airbags, mainly curtain airbags from memory.

Spudfan, did you and the wife end up trying out the 110 rear compartment?
I too would like to know if the seats fold flat
I would have to travel to Barbagellos, north of Perth to have a shot
If the seats did not fold flat, are they cushioned on the rear, (maybe they would make good elbow supports) or are they just hard plastic like the back of my 110 front seats
Also I would like to take the kids for a test run over the vehicle, (every time we are packing up for a trip away they like to climb on the roof off the bonnet and back down on the spare wheel) to see if it has the rigidity in the panels as they original 110 (also handy for those romantic getaways)
The wipe clean interior, is that as it says, wipe clean or do you think I could use the hose after playing in the mud (the kids not me)

Have not even seen one in the flesh yet let alone got to try one out. Having seen the Mrs getting ready for bed recently I do not think I'll pursue the experiment[smilebigeye]

Had a quick drive of a P400 Defender yesterday. Drove very nicely! More power than my RRS, felt a little higher but the ride was very good. Am very close to putting an order in.

I can imagine the funniest thing to do after that would be to turn up with one lady and 4 blokes and ask if they could all try out the configurations. When the dealer looks at everyone confused and asks, "What, all of you?"

Someone has to answer yes we are members of the local dogging club.
