Hi All

Has anyone run their room rack wiring - from the engin bay through (under) the outside A pillar cover?

Not sure how much space there is behind the cover.. suppose I could pull it off and look after I get replacement clips but easier to just ask..

Cheers
Harry

I've done it. You can fit 6mm twin core up there. Probably nothing bigger. Maybe a 4mm tracer with it

Thanks Josh - perfect.

I like your write up- suppose it’s OK for me to hijack my own thread ..

I have the same problem that my Rhino Rack looks like a bloody table stuck on top of the Landy - I bought one that’s legal but just looks to wide.

Hate doing it to a new rack but Thinking of trimming 50 to 80mm off each side so that it’s ~40mm proud of the Roof Rails - is that what you did to you pioneer? If so how easy was it?

if anyone else has trimmed a Rhino Rack please feel free to share..

Cheers
Harry

I did think about cutting mine down, it was originally on my D2 so there was no overhang with the RL280 legs. But decided that function over form was the way to go. I don’t even take any notice of the overhang anymore, plus the passenger side is disguised by the awning hanging down. It looks worse in this photo than I think it does in real life.

I’ve run wiring down the A pillar for my Stedi light bar. I did use a fair bit of sikaflex to keep it in place and neat per se at the top, but it works. There was enough room underneath for a nominal wiring run - mine uses a three-core wire capable of I think 20amps 5m run. I don’t have a photo at the moment sorry.

I also ran a feed at the back through the wiring grommet for a rear light - I sliced and ran through the wiring duct that’s there - I wasn’t precious and haven’t had any water ingress.

It's really so easy mate, drill out rivets, cut down, paint, reinstall.
The only hard lesson I learnt. Now that my rails are where I want them. Not where rhino put them. The wind deflector won't mount up.. So if your going to use one of them it'll be easier to just pm me and call me about it. I could probably come up with an easy solution but it's not annoying me enough to even think about.
I don't hear mine anymore. Especially not with Cooper ATS on. I've got a light bar to go up there to fill the gap. But I've decided it's too skinny. I'll get a thicker one. I'll use the other a pillar to run the wiring for that. Just like disco jeff. I used sika and pushed the wiring into it to hold it where I wanted it

Hi Josh. How did you go into the top of the A Pillar, did you Dremel out a little bit from the top of the inside of the A Pillar for the wire to go through?

Josh is no longer on here, there is enough room just to tuck the cable in without any cutting of the trip and it still clips in.
