Anyone else into computer games, and on-line gaming
I like war games esp WW2 ones, and often play "Call of Duty 2" online.
My online nick is "VladTepes" (just to be different!)
I'm registered on the following forum, which is "The Older Gamers" i.e. people over 25 y.o (no teenage brats).

We did have a thread like this on the site before the changes, so it must have been lost somehow.
Well I'll state again that I'm into team control games on my PS2 like the Conflict series (Desert storm, Global Strike, Vietnam ect ect), Rainbow Six series and especially SOCOM US Navy Seals I and II (Just waiting for number 3 to come down in price!). I'm into the free to move games like the Grand theft auto series.
I have a couple of G-Con2's which I use in Time Crisis I&II ect ect.
As for PC Games. I've taken to Soldier of Fortune I, New York City Tycoon, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Dune 2000, all the Red Alert series, and an old favourite is Carmageddon (which I might say is not around much anymore - they replaced it with a new version which I think is utterly boring)

Yeh, I'd have to admit to be being a closet gamer, can't wait for wet/cold weather to keep me inside (farm stuff is boring).
Into first person only (except Warcraft series) Soldier of Fortune 1 & 2, All the Rainbow Six series, Medal of Honour series, WW2 Sniper, Battlfield Vietnam, big Doom fan only #3 works on P4 PC though, Shellshock Nam '67, all SWAT series, etc etc.
Never been online but might on day.

That's a really cool game COD. I used to play it with a huge bunch of guys from other geek factories at the cyber room in Adelaide street at lunch time. I also used to do LAN parties and so on before the internet became what it was. I was very into duke nukem, shaddow warrier and the likes.
I really enjoy gaming, but I just can't justify the time anymore :(

For you Halflife 2 fans,,,
Episode 1 is the ducks nuts.
surpasses HL2 in action and story,,
Alyx plays a much bigger role(with a gun that NEVER runs out of bullets:D) and says a couple of VERY funny lines---
and, as you'd expect, leaves you with that "must have Episode 2 feeling"
9 out of 10.

Where I used to work we'd play MOH allied assault endlessly on the Lan network, awesome when you've got twelve or more players at the same time. The IT department got the Sh@ts when the game kept getting larger in size (approx 14GIG on everyones harddrives) with all the new maps, characters and weapons installed. We tried Soldier of furtune, Vietcong, Alian verus Predator, Black hawk down but all ran a bit edgy at times. MOHAA ran seamlessly and was a lot of fun

I love playing online, but since moving to a house on a pair gain phone system, I can't get broadband over the phone network. Wireless = 300-3000 pings on servers = no chance in hell of playing. I will one day return to the counter-strike servers for some serious e-headshots. I used to play under the name of tHeDuDe.

I just bought "Heroes of the Pacific", a WWII flight combat dog fighting game. I got it off e-bay for $20 delivered! The only problem is, my PC isnt good enough to play it, as the graphics are awesome and my graphics card cannot handle it (as well as my processor). But it has on-line dog fighting as well, so I better upgrade my PC :D

I play LAN games with friends. Vietcong: Fist Alpha is our favourite. It is old but we just love the game.
Got a bunch of others we play too but generally it is all Vietcong: FA. All shooter games.
However it is usually just three of us. Sometimes up to five or six. Would love a game with 10+ people. Not particulary into online stuff though as I'm no competition for those guys who must have millions of hours up.
Used to play America's Army which was fun but as above I never lasted long.

EDIT
hmm,
while it is was not released as a triple A title,,
it soon achieved that status,,
an "immersive physco fps thriller"--
and yea,, not bad,,
lots and LOTS of black passageways,,
I left it for 12 months before I bought it,, read all the reviews,,
I think the raves were due to a lack of AAA titles,,
its a great game, unbelievable graphics,
but its not much different to DOOM 3,, its all corridors and black spaces,, with some cinematic fight scenes,,,
worth 50$,,
8.5 out of 10.

Am I the only person in Aussie, that has heard of Live for speed?
http://.wwwliveforspeed.net
Just the best, real race simulator, I have played. It is a free download, gives access to one track, with a couple of options and cars. When the once only licence fee is payed, an unlock code gives you the world, F1 team BMW Sauber have been involved in game physics, race in world leagues, the lot. Just remember it is not a game like Need for speed. It is a real time internet racing league.

Heh. Been gaming since the mid 80's and still can't break the habit lol. Used to play alot of Counter Strike, BF2 etc. Now reallly hooked on WOW and a free to play/download game called Silk Road Online (well free to play with lots of options to spend yur hard earned dosh lol).
If yur bored take a look at www.ogn.com.au. Used to be involved with them in the adminning side of things. They have (still do I think) a pretty active older group of players involved in the fps side of things (like BF2/BF2142 etc)....

This one isn't really a computer game(that I know of) but for those of you out there who have a PS2, Try the game "Destroy all humans" the name says it all. the story is that your an alien lifeform who rages war on planed earth, you just go around destroying anything you want, I wont give away any of the abilities and weapons tho.
shorty943
6th January 2007, 09:39 AM
Yes it is MB6. Destroy all humans was released about 3 years ago. A ginky little kill em all thingo. For PC, Mac, and PS2. Don't have it myself. Don't have any shoot em up, kill em all, type games. Must be some thing that is only fun for people who have not had to face war in person. Me? I can not like the rubbish. Give me a GOOD, race sim, or flight sim anyday.

VladTepes, you may remember me as TOMMY(AUST) on Call of Duty 2 and United Offensive. Up until recently, I would play these games on the internet most nights. Unfortunately, most of the servers are in the United States which tends to send my 'ping' sky high as I am in Perth.
As a 44 year old (i'm a kid at heart) I was wondering about 'oldgamers' and whether it had any benefits for me. I am really quite happy kickin' the butts of the 'cheeky' young fellas playing these games. :bat:
Looking forwards to COD3 on PC as I am told it is more 'strategic' based than COD2. I prefer to strategize and plan my actions whereas my son, who also plays, tends to shoot first and ask questions later. :rocket:

On ya Paul. Have not had the oportunity to race online yet. Internet connection is new, and the ex-servicemans pension seems to need spending on lots of useless stuff, like, food, rent, etc. Won't be long now though, only 30 something Aus dollars for lifetime subscription. Might even be a way to run a game server through a VPN. Private race league so to speak. Go into the test area of the game setup, if you haven't subscribed, and play with the 2 Ltr Turbo, it just spins in any gear till you get a handle on it. Uphill. down dale, throttle up equals reverse out of the corner.

New experiences await the intrepid sailor.
Ship Simulator 2008, is due on sale in Aus, in September.
This link (www.shipsim.com) should get you to the 2006 "enhanced" demo.
With some of the features of the new version attached.
Yep, tested and functional, in preview.
The game, starts you out as a water taxi driver in NY Harbour.
You end up as a super tanker master mariner. Or, you could die at sea.
I'm fooling with the demo at the moment. Looking forward to the Aussie release of the game.
