View Full Version : Harvey, possible WA trip?
Frenchie
9th June 2006, 08:33 AM
WAAulroians, particularly RichardK who knows the area well - I am planning an overnighter on the first weekend in July (1/2) and would like to be somewhere there is decent off-roading available. Dwellingup is becoming too hard so I was thinking Harvey.
The place where we stopped for lunch on the two trips I attended would make an ok camping spot, are there any others that are better or in case the spot is occupied when we arrive?
I will be going with some non-LR friends, but forumites are most definitely invited.

Hi Frenchie
I'd love to come along though I reckon I will be pretty damn gutless for awhile until I get my no claim bonus back up but I am heading off to the Kimberley that weekend.
Have a good one.

Hi Tony
Good stuff.
Will keep an eye on your plans, even if I havent got my new suspension fitted I will try and make it.
Baz(tojo ute pilot) who came last time is itching to try out his new toy,a 80 series tojo.He keeps asking when Im heading out with my Landy mates.
So you have a couple of Williamsites, probably for the sat as he plays foolsball on sundays.

G'day Fellas,
I smell a trip, the camping areas we have used for the last 10 years or so have all been logged and are a mess with debris, I have another site but depending on the weather it may or may not be accessable. I need to talk to GGhaggis who may have been down last weekend and to my knowledge they were attempting to find another campsite.
The 2nd is no good for me but the 8th would be OK, there is a lot of area that I can take you to that you may not have been through, however the weather will take a part in deciding to take those tracks.
Let me know if you are interested

Hmmm, might have to try somewhere else for the camp, unless I can manage to do a recce beforehand.
I am committed to the 1st/2nd for the camping trip, but would be keen for a day trip on the 8th as well.

Richard,
I didn't go down to Harvey with Ben last weekend, but I think he said that they just camped at the top of the fenceline. Maybe give him a ring and check this?
I'd be interested in a daytrip around the 8th (unfortunately the weekend of the 2nd is no good for me). Should have the rock sliders and side steps made up and fitted by then :)
And maybe even the wheel carrier .......
Cheers,
Gordon

We might take the easy option and camp somewhere like Logue Brook Dam for that weekend.
Andy, with a few others to organise and campers to set up it will probably be after lunch by the time we get organised. If you're still interested perhaps we could arrange to meet in Harvey around lunchtime?
I am still keen for a seperate trip on the 8th. (Especially if Gordon is going to bring the D3, hanging out to see how they perform). :)

See how we go Tony
The party we are going to is a bring and share dinner at 6pm and we have to get a tent setup:rolleyes:    .
I may be cutting it a bit fine time wise,Im in Perth allday friday which leaves me shorter of time to get stuff arranged.
I may be better waiting for the next trip.
One good thing,Im going to see my accountant whilst in Perth, that hopefully will finance my new suspension kit Im waiting to buy.

Well I might be keen If I can get a leave pass to try out the new 110, I bought it so I could play in the ruff stuff. Its got some high rubber but I need to make some rock sliders to protect the sills.
I should have my GPS by then so maybe Gordon could put ups some co-ordinates or email them if he wants to keep them private.
See how time permits but I'm keen:)
gghaggis
26th June 2006, 03:55 PM
Ermm - I'd put up the GPS coords if I could, but I've changed GPS systems and didn't keep a copy of the old trips :(
Hope you get the 110 ready - should be a good day out:)
Cheers,
Gordon

Hello,
I would like to come and play if I may. You don't know me but I have a 90 (a true genuine original V8 90). Whilst I enjoy staying at home and crocheting blankets for the stray dogs home I would be willing to get muddy for a day if I absolutely must.
I would be on my own as I have no friends.
Thankyou

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I am thinking about it
Is it going to be rough?
Will I need to lock my rear diff?
Will I scratch my Rangie?
Will kevin abuse me?
Will you abuse me?
I have just descratched and cleaned my Rangie
Is it just a day run?
Please help this poor misguided fool

90,
You are most welcome, I do tend to take on a challenge and have a good knowledge of the tracks around Harvey, whilst you will be able to face any fears you may have, all will have ''escape Routes" Ï will also guide you if you feel unsure.............BUT..............you must leave your knitting and crocheting at home, the dogs home can wait.
I do not take my vehicle into situations where damage is a strong possibility, but I also take no responsibility for damage
Generally it is a good days driving
Please confirm your interest, I have added you to our list but not as confirmed as yet

All welcome!!
Have just got back from a weekend camping down there.
Water is down at the crossings, but there is some mud, some of the descents were "interesting" with the camper trailer on!
Should be fun. Would love to see a 90 on the trip.

Well still looks like a goer for me even though I gotta pick up a snorkel from Kev at Rovatech on Friday arvo and fit it Friday night. should'nt take too long I hope. Gave her a service this week and tightned this and adjusted that, still a bit of slap at the rear end but I going to leave it and replace with a Maxi locker in a months time.
All being well see ya outside the Caltex...:D

Hello
I will be there unless:
the plane from Newman crashes
my car doesn't start when I get home
nobody has stolen my car
nobody has stolen my home
nobody has stolen my map of how to get to Harvey
I do like a bit of a challenge. I am currently crocheting booties for a three legged Chihuahua and a cat suit for a Rottweiler.

Hi Richard and others
Sorry to dissapoint you guys but Baz is away on holiday and wont be back till sun.He was itching to go and was the main reason I was going.
I will give it a miss as I havent got my suspension yet,and Im not too happy serious off-roading with it the way it is,the shocks are totally plucked and she is pitching front to rear wicked.
HOWEVER within the next 3 weeks she will have a 2" lift all round, new shocks, steering damper, polyair rear airbags, snorkel and a Drivesafe wiring upgrade and new globes.
THEN I WILL BE BUSTING TO GET OUT AND DIRTY.
I will miss you guys but will be hasseling for an outing in the next month.

Looking forward to it.
Baz's missus is off to Europe next week for 18 months so he has had a week off work to spend with her.
He is really busting to try his "new" 80 SER out,and I would have gone along if he was going. But its best I sort mine out before I go offroad properly.
Im sure if you lot have a good time you will be willing to go again soon.
Goodluck

Hey Richard
I would love to go but I really need to get BlackBetty up to 100% to do a RICHARDK trip.
Dont forget if your travels up north will get you to Derby, let me know, a very good mate will more than likely take you out fishing,he has a couple of boats,a dinghy and a 5m or so dinghy.
