Washers for Alloy Body

Making an alloy frame up in the back of my 130. Need to bolt through the floor and sides. Does it matter what washers are used next to the alloy panels. Alloy, zinc, Stainless steel etc. Dissimilar metal corrosion is it a problem?

I have an Aluminium boat, when I mix stainless steel with Aluminum I use Duralac

Most metals you are likely to encounter will set up an electrolytic couple that will result in corrosion of the aluminium. The exception is zinc, as in galvanised steel, which is what Landrover used. Failing that, use something to electrically insulate the bolt from the alloy - your nearest boat chandler should be able to sell you a selection of nylon washers and sleeves. Films of various paints and lacuers may work, but are too likely to be damaged by tightening the bolt or movement in the joint, so I would not rely on them.

x2 first up. But Duralac doesn't store well and often separates in the tube.

I use CRC battery terminal protector on small jobs, as it does a pretty good job as long as the joint is not constantly wet.

Yeah I use that too, but on batteries.
Note: Duralac is supposed to be bad, so use gloves etc when using it, but it does work.

Duralac is the go. It will last awhile in the tube if you seal it properly.

The price puts people off, but nothing else I've ever seen works as well in a marine environment which is way harsher than where you're using it.
