I've been monitoring an oil leak around one of my injectors (#3) - it's got to a point where I think I need to renew its washer:

...so, I have bought a washer kit (includes injector clamp bolts, copper washers, large rubber seal for cam cover and small o-rings for return line) - on its way.

I have also bought a cutter/reamer kit for all of $30 to my door, thanks to the wonders of AliExpress:

My questions to the collective wisdom of the forum are:

1) Is the reamer/cutter shown the correct one for the 2.4 Puma injectors - 17 x 17mm flat reamer? (my research says yes?)

2) Only one of the injectors in a pair is leaking (#3). I will renew the washers on the PAIR, but to my mind there's no need to do #1 & #2 - given there's no leak, AND the less disturbance to the injection system the better, I'm inclined to leave the front pair alone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. But, thoughts welcomed.

3) Any other thoughts/tips from those who've done this job previously? Again, wisdom welcomed!

...and I do realise cleanliness is a must in this area. If it helps, the car is a Puma 2.4, MY10, about 119,000 km.

Finally, I will update as I proceed.

And, thanks in advance! 👍

It won't be the injector washer, only the top rocker cover seal around the injector body. The injector goes down through the rocker box and is open to the crankcase inside below the rocker cover. They are a pain when removed as a certain amount of oil drops into the cylinder from the head ...

Thanks Justin.

The one thing I didn't mention that made me suspect an injector seal is that the engine has some (low) oil consumption between changes, and there is evidence of breathing on the hose from rocker cover to turbo inlet. So given the leak around the injector, I suspected injector washer leaking and pressurising the system. But now, looking at more interweb pics of the head/rocker cover, I see what you mean - it isn't a "direct/sealed connect" from the injector base to the injector seal on the rocker cover.

OK, I might hold off on the injector washer/rocker seal replacement - again, don't want to disturb the injection system unnecessarily. I can live with a small oil leak (well, weep...). The cure could be worse than the disease.

And to anticipate next question, the oil consumption is low - would be around 0.25l max over several months - hard to say for sure, the car does very low mileage and if i'm honest has a pretty easy life... It doesn't need topping up and runs perfectly well. Might simply be iso making work for idle hands....

But, any ideas as to what else to check re the "breathing"? Or is some oil residue around the breather hose normal and I'm being over-sensitive?
