Hi All,

Anyone come across these before?

Android 9.0 Pie Single Din Car Stereo 7 Inch Flip Out Capacitive Touch Screen Support Bluetooth WiFi GPS Navigation Mirror Link AM/FM Car Radio OBD USB SD AUX Cam-in with Backup Camera and Microphone: Amazon.com.au: Electronics (https://www.amazon.com.au/Android-Capacitive-Bluetooth-Navigation-Microphone/dp/B07X3R7Q51/ref=sr_1_6'dchild=1&keywords=Power+Acoustik+PTID-8920B+Flip+Out+Head+Unit&qid=1598241633&sr=8-6&tag=cb-all-pages-22#customerReviews)

As I always have a phone on me it makes sense to use it as the car audio.

If this is any good hopefully I can just slot in the Alpine unit in my PUMA if/when I sell the car.

I have a double din Android stereo in my GU. Works well. I would buy another.

Only issue I have is android 9.0 doesn’t like my USB internet dongle.
Hotspots fine off a phone.

I have oziexplorer, Spotify and a couple of other apps.
And recently changed the main home screen. Which was a great upgrade.

Thanks for the responses. A couple of queries

What brand of unit did you get and can I have a rough cost?
Doesn't Android Auto need a USB tether to work? Does on my phone anyway but mine is a few years old now.

Cheers

Can’t remember the brand. But it’s an ebay job, $255 delivered.

I can’t get CarPlay or mirroring to work. I have an iPhone though. I vaguely remember trying with an old android tablet. But that was ages ago.
If I could get the dongle to work. You are supposed to be able to use it like a wifi modem. So for me. I could have the dongle plugged in. And use the aerial ports. Use a 3/4g aerial for better range.
As then I could have wifi within an area 10m’s around the car (maybe further). Perfect for kids.

But I can’t get it to work. Mucked around for ages. So will just buy a wifi dongle/hotspot and leave it in the car plugged in.

Until then hotspoting of my phone works fine.
As internet on the head unit can be handy. As it checks the local weather, abc kids listen, Spotify, Stan. Are nice to haves.

Want let me down load the Netflix or Disney plus apps.
