I'm going to change my gearbox and transfer box oils. Would you recommend adding additives to the gearbox oil?
I understand a lot of the ford owners use additives in their MT82 gearbox.

Interesting....a few years ago I added Nulon G70 to my BMW motorcycle gearbox to assist with some known bearing failure problems, eventually I had to replace the bearings, when the gearbox was opened, the Nulon additive appeared to be stuck to the inside casing of the gearbox, as the centrifugal force separated it from the gear oil lubricant, which indicated to me that the Nulon did not emulsify into the gear oil.
So technically the additive did not do anything as it did not physically blend with the lubricating oil which was Synthetic GL5.
I change the oil in the MT82 every 20,000km.

As he said, (not that I know anything about MT82 boxes & additives you understand) just because Rick said it & I would have confidence in his opinions.
He does appear to know a bit about not using Butter & Olive Oil as Lubricants though.
He might make a great Pizza.

I changed my M82 gearbox oil to Motul Pro Gear 70W-75 .....it was running the Ford product whatever they use.
The improvement was noticable
