Decided to commence parts collections to fit up a naturally aspirated 4bd1 into the 130. (Turbo option when funds allow) Motor sourced.

I'm going down the r380 to lt95 bell housing adaptor ( awaiting quotes , sources)

I will fit up power steering, pump readily available.

Engine mount brackets ordered from Ridji .

Radiator : After advise whats the best option ? I can source a v8 defender radiator (overseas) but it has plastic tanks which i'm wary of. Any advice on alternatives ? Shroud im looking around. Any alternatives

Pretty confident i can do 99% of the work myself. May fit edic motor or just go the old push/pull cable. Will post build thread was i kick off. Any advise greatly appreciated

have fun!

hardest part is getting used to the torque down low and no guts up high compared to the 300tdi....

and the torque rattle [thumbsupbig]

but once you get used to it you'll love it when you put a blower on it...

We used a county v8 radiator sourced from triumph rover spares, brand new, wasn't overly expensive, we just had to get the outlet modded. You could try a disco v8 one, see if it fits.

Also, being a 130, it will need an edic motor to be legal.

Have a look at this site.

Radiators and Components | Speedway Motors (https://www.speedwaymotors.com/shop/radiators-and-components~6-4-558)

They have good quality stuff and their freight rates are friendly. Be aware of the exchange rate though.

You should be able to find something in their range of goodies to suit.

Engine mount brackets ordered from Ridji

'Tis a bit late now but KLR offer the hire of a jig to correctly locate the engine mount brackets when welding them in. I was looking at it last week. I assume it's available to those who buy the brackets from KLR.

There was a NOS V8 radiator advertised on Facebook (Land Rovers Defender Sales and Trade Australia group) recently for $350. Much cheaper than what a re core cost me. Can't link here for some reason but if you are interested send me a PM and I'll see if I can link it. BTW it is not mine.

Well after months of waiting, the parts are on the way. R380 to 4bd1, bell housing and other odds and ends. I intend to run it NA, for awhile to see how it goes. I drove perentis for years , load to the gunnels and they went ok for me. Im not a boy racer anymore and happy to move aside for trucks et when on the hway. I will be doing it at my pleasure. I'm in no rush. Some of the parts are getting scarce like ancillary items, brackets et. Ridji helped me out so all good. Rough price for those who are interested (will do a full break down once completed).

motor 4bd1 , $3000,

conversion bell housing $1200 and another 1800 on new clutch, engine mounts , power steering pump, odds and sods.

The 130 will be my forever car, so spending on new items when i could have used old will only be of benefit.

Short answer: Yes it will. Potential insurance/defect issues if you don't fit one
