Hi all, the short story. A mate of mine took delivery of his new D5 a few months ago. From the get go he had low battery voltage problems and also repetitive restricted performance events. caused more than a bit of angst while we were rolling around Bendley Ranges let me tell you but that's another story. He had the car back quite a few times with the most recent diagnostic event at the dealer finding a loose battery negative lead to body connection. Vehicle tech's comment was that he has found a few of them. I can not testify to the veracity of the comments from the dealer tech but have had a very recent first hand episode of a poor engine earthing scenario that caused untold intermittent and seemingly random engine related issues to another make of vehicle.
So, given how easy the check would be to conduct, even though the battery is hidden away in the right rear cargo area, if I owned one, this simple check would be on top of my to do list.
It's too early to tell if this is a definitive fix for my mates car, it was only yesterday he got it back but it adds to the knowledge pool and I hope it helps some one out.
