Any clues on holding the injector pump pulley still so the FIP can be removed from the back. I understand there is a toolkit available but do not have access to one ATM.

Just dropped my 300tdi pump of today for a rebuild. I did not have the tool so pulled the cam belt off as well. It was due to be replaced anyway. You can make the tool pretty easily it seems. Their are a few posts on here about it. Do a search.

It’s a lot more work pulling the cam belt off so I would try making the tool if you have no other reason to strip the cam belt.

Good luck.

lock the injector pump with the locking tool (8,5mm drill bit from memory, and then undo the nut. a wrap around filter strap will also work well)

I'd have to either go and look up an old thread or measure my kit....

of course doing this means you have to retime the engine, unless hes after the front pully mounting tool that locates the pully so you dont have to do the belt and timing.

Yes to the front pulley locating tool. The one that goes through the inspection hole so I don't have to pull the front off the motor. Just the FIP out the back..

if you're doing it to change out the seal, Dont bother, if its leaked diesel its on the timing belt and that needs to be changed out...

Theres a reason I dont own the tool for doing it with the cover on. It's not because I love fighting harmonic balancers and their bolt.

300tdi fuel pump tool (https://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130-defender-county/266136-300tdi-fuel-pump-tool.html)

But anyways - “the LR Tool”
Is nothing special
Whip off the AC Idler
The three m8 holes behind are your target
Hunk of ally or steel drilled for that bolt pattern and a larger hole in middle to undo the FIP nut

There are times removing FIP without pulling the timing case apart can be helpful
