Alternative tyres for L322

I'm looking about for a 2011 (or therabouts) 4.4litre 8 speed diesel Range Rover.
I'm not sure if that is an L322, but I think it is.
The main issue for me is that I see them running 50 profile tyres, and as I drive in remote areas on unmade roads, I'm looking to fit a higher profile tyre for comfort and better bush reliability.
Anybody any experience of fitting higher profile tyres on these vehicles and are there alternatiove size rim options (smaller rim size perhaps?), to allow fitting higher profile tyres, or are the brakes the reason they fit larger rims (to clear the brakes)?

I have the same, and yes the tyres were a big issue at first for me as there are no smaller rims available. I went to 275 55 20 ATs which are 32.5" diameter. Apart from trimming the front inner edge of the rh rear guard liner clearance hasn't been a problem so far. The gearing however Is noticeably higher, and has slightly increased my fuel consumption by about .5 to .75litres/100

Same here, except that my 275/55R20 aren't quite that big. There are some quite tough tyres in this size and while one of mine was destroyed by hitting a solid lump of limestone on a rarely-used Nullabor track at 40-50 kph, I still consider my tyres tough enough.

D4 19" rims fit but getting tyres with more sidewall than 275/55R20 is a problem and I suspect the rims aren't as strong as the L322 20".

Yes, sorry Graeme is correct they are only 32".

I’m running cooperAT3,s on the wife’s 2008 l322. They are 275 55 20 and we have been happy with them. They are a bit too big however and the fronts used to scrape on the front wheel arches and the spare only fits in the tyre well deflated and fair bit of persuasion with a rubber Mallett. Yes, sorry Graeme is correct they are only 32".Not sufficiently smaller though - 31" don't rub the front liners at access height and fit in the spare wheel well.

Just trying to work out largest diameter tyre I can run without "problems" of body rub or not fitting in wheelbay. (Don't want to order wrong size tyres.)
Seems that diameter of 255/50/20 is 30" , 255/65/18 is 31.1" and diameter of 255/70/18" is 32.1".

Will the 70 profile "rub" when on the car (when steering and such)?
Will the 70 profile fit in the spare wheel space?

I am assuming the 65 profile will fit OK?

I fit 275/55R20 which are just under 32" but part of the left plastic cover has been removed, the wheel sits on sponge blocks to stop the tyre from getting jammed at the sides and the floor is raised on lengths of 50mm x 50mm dense sponge. I read that 255/55R20 (31" from a L405) fit without any modifications.
