My 1997 130 needs new ones. A friend who took the originals off his 2.4l Puma 110 at about 20,000KM has offered me those. So first question, Are they suitable or not?
The other question is where is the best place to ket Koni heavy tracks if the above are not suitable, and which part numbers do I need for the 130?

Not sure about the puma shocks. Best price I found for my Koni Heavy Tracks was Wholesale suspension. Wholesale Suspension - Lowering Springs, Performance Shocks... (https://wholesalesuspension.com.au/)
Awesome customer service and delivery.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200903/ec2e44890823ec0176b3f5112c5ef465.jpg

To my knowledge Puma and Defender County should have the same shock lengths. Stiffer springs for the 130, but I think the same height.
I just got some Koni Raid 90's for the front of my TD5 Defender. Had them shipped from Paddock Spares in the UK. Just over $600 delivered for the front pair, which is similar to the price I paid for my Bilsteins 15 years ago. Of the $600, $100 was for shipping. Took 4 days from UK to my house north of Cairns. Very happy with the Raid 90 so far. Very nice ride, and got rid of my death wobbles when I hit a bump.
Cheers,

I needed to get on with this job, as rego inspection is coming up. I decided to get a full set of Koni heavy tracks from Paddocks. $AUD.660.00 delivered.
Waiting.......

Any Chance of getting the OPEN/CLOSE lengths by any chance?
I'm running some 80'series cruiser Front shocks just so I can get some extra length, so was wondering what the open/close lengths might be...

And today I get the following email. Am I wrong in thinking others here have sourced these shocks from Paddocks?

Hi
Thank you for your order
I am sorry due to restrictions we are unable to send the 30-1311/30-1312 Koni shocks to Australia, as they are classed as hazardous. The only ones we can send are the Britpart super Gaz and standard hydraulics.
Please advise what you would like to do.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Koni has a distributor in Melbourne.

I had no problems having my Koni Raid 90 shipped. They arrived 2 weeks ago. Probably because they are not high pressure gas shocks. At around $250 a shock still much cheaper than local sourced.

I remember seeing the lengths on this forum somewhere, but mine are installed at the moment, and my car hoist has my sons car on it. Same size of my old Bilsteins.

80 Series dampers are what most of us went to, they are a good 1.5-2" longer in stroke, you just need to raise the towers a bit (height depending on brand and bushes used) to prevent metal to metal at full bump.
[Edit] and an addendum, obviously brake hoses need lengthening, anti roll bar needs removing (prop shaft hits it) a wide angled yoke/uni or DC front shaft needs fitting (the stock one binds) castor should be corrected (although I never bothered), etc.

Pros,Cons & Myths (https://lrautomotive.com.au/contents/en-us/d680.html)It only compares Bilstein, other manufacturers 80 Series dampers are much more suitable (ie longer open/closed) if longer travel is required.

I had to increased the height of my bumpstops to prevent the shocks from topping(or bottoming out - can never remember proper term) out. Don't run front/rear swaybars and have longer brakelines and still have std front radius arms and it seems to drive normally.
Re: Front Driveshaft - still running the std one and to date - no issues yet. I only assume this is a issue if your constantly 4wdriving where by your max flexing regularly??

I replied to their email asking why, if they're hazardous, are they on their Australian site and why nothing about that had been mentioned when I'd accessed their chat service regarding freight charges. I also asked that the facts are checked before I made a decision.
Two days later and the reply turns up:
Hi
I am sorry, there was some confusion at this end. I will put your order through as urgent. Again I am sorry for the confusion.

Yep, my uni was binding at full droop. If you aren't off road and maxing it out, you'll get away with it, but if you do a bit of off road you could wreck a uni and yoke so it's best to be aware and sort it so it doesn't leave you having to do track side repairs.
A DC front shaft also takes the slight driveshaft vibration out of the front when you have 100+mm between the (standard) bump stops
