Hi All,
I've noticed, on a few occasions after start up a "ting ting ting" sound coming from the engine. Sounds like one of those a wind up , monkeys banging a tin drum. Its relative slow, not engine speed relative. Seems only while cold and goes away in time. Car runs fine both while sound is happening and after.
Does anyone have any thoughts?

Yes we all have that. I think it’s related to the viscous fan.

I've had it for years. Dealer told me they could fix it for $'s or I could forget about it for nothing. Both were viable options.

It is the fan hub, and nothing to worry about.

Thanks DJ, Ferret and JC. I'll now head off the the back of Kalgoorlie this week without giving it another thought.

No Ting Ting here either after 9 years, but we get all the other noises, including the roar of the fan at start up on occasions.

You’re lucky they make it to the floor. I always find they get stuck somewhere I can’t reach!
Or that dreaded nut of a certain size and shape that’s critical to reassembly that you need to import from Czechoslovakia before you can get the car running again.
