I am again thinking of upgrading to a TD5. I like this but WOW what a price tag

What you thoughts, over priced ?

To pricey there is a silver one a Bruce Linton for $42.000.
You will find that the ACE suspension mentioned will be going a lot to the price.
Don't know if the one at Linton's has ACE or not.

Yeh.. looks too high to me..but then the km's are VERY low. ( I'd be asking why.. cause it's too low..)
Redbook lists $43,700-$50,200 but that is based on 30,000 - 50,000 K
The car would have been RRP $73,950 when new..
Cheers,
Mark

I would probably say not, less $10,000. It's essentially "new" with that sort of mileage and theres quite a few toys in it.
Its a nice looking Disco:)
Check that so called "red book"

How is 5,600 kms too low in 2 years? It certainly doesnt look as if a 4wdriver owned, its quite possible it was 2nd or 3rd car and rarely used.

The low kms is what is intereting me the most, but I reckon the $$$ are about 10k over priced, even with all the little extras

2005 D3 TDv6S were same price new at the beginning of the year - could still be had if you shop and bargain and deal - more fruit in the D3 though.
I agree - about $10k too much - it is a 2year old car now.

Tell 'im he's dreamin' son.
It's probably been used as a car to drive to the station and back each day. Or the previous owner was too scared to drive it after the rude shock when they first saw the stealers service bill.

Nope. Heated mirrors are good. They've never given any trouble on my P38A.

if I was looking to purchase, this'd be the sort of thing I'd go for...
http://www.carpoint.com.au/used-car/LAND%20ROVER/DEFENDER/South%20Australia/1780109.aspx
... it's TD5, but a defender (... actually for me there's no but, but I know it's totally different to a disco).
Vehicle is fully kitted out - not bad value!

yes its a seven seater,
has no sidemouldings,,
no flares,
and as for the extras listed--
forget it,
its a generic listing,,
only way to be sure is to physically see the vehicle.
trust me on this--
I could have bought a "burnt orange" one with 18's,, beautiful car,,
but didnt have ACE.

I think this car was a yard demo and they have just gotten stuck with it. I will make them an offer over the phone and if they are keen to negotiate I will take a drive down to have a look.
I reckon I would go as high as $45k.

As you say it may well be a genuine 5000 k.... but in my experience that is VERY unlikely. Over 2 years even as a 3rd car... If I drove it from home in the eastern suburbs of Melb to Toolangi to play and back once a month... it would have 6000 plus Ks...with NO other driving.
It's listed with a dealer... it's at least $10,000 over priced... and I am yet to meet a car dealer I trust.... so I would at least investigate why so low...

Right, beeen on me mind the past 24hrs:)
Come to think of it, my disco has done 2,9x10^5 kms, an average in its lifespan of 24,100 kms per year. I have had it only 10 months and done 10,000klms as a learner, so to do 2,500kms a year then something could well be up.
If it was a corolla owned by an 85 year old woman, then it would make sense:p

How is 5,600 kms too low in 2 years? It's not to low. My wife has done just on 11k in 4 1/2 yrs as she just drives to work and back which for most of that time was not far away.
We may find that to be a ridiculous amount because we love our cars and driving them (I avg 1000+ k's a week) but i know people who don't enjoy driving, does'nt mean they can't own a car!, i know of a guy who traded in a 6mth old lexus cause the new one had bluetooth and he wanted that(more money than sense). My sisters car has not done more than 200k's in last year and a half as she has been overseas. Not checking out what could be the lowest kilometer live axle discovery that you'll ever see would be the mistake if your after one of that model. As for being $10k over priced that's what negotiation is all about. But until you check it out how would you actually KNOW that it was a lemon or a really good, under used vehicle.

I am with Garrycol on this one a D3 would be much better value and for not much more. That price is way to high for what you are getting, regardless of the km's its not worth that much given the D3's arrival and the fact that it only has 12 months new car warranty on a car that has barely been run in. I sold my Honda CBR1000F because I only did 800km in the 12 months before I sold it.
It was just too much hassle to go for a ride. It was too hot in summer - I'd start overheating as soon as I zipped up the leather jacket - and too much hassle to have to take a change of clothes and shoes if I rode it to/from work (I wear shorts at work but I wore Draggin' Jeans on the bike and they are far too hot to wear at work even in winter).

Ron how many KM have you done in your car?
Not driving a car ie. low km could also be a bad thing .
Engine and other parts would not be lubricated on start up , rust would develop on metal parts .
Why do you thing taxi's get 600 to 700 thousand km or more on same engine!
(they run nearly 24hrs always hot)
