In 2017 I bought a ACER Predator Monitor,, XB270HU, and from new it had a well known problem,,

I did the usual things, register at ACER, log the problem, went on line and found I was not alone and the result was replacement...
Acer blamed G-Sync, same as some other manufacturers

I then promptly lived with the problem,,,( I'd just paid $800 for it and wanted to use it!! )
The monitor literally picks a 2mm vertical line down the centre and puts it on the right edge...
it shows up more in some applications than others,, and to fix its just change the refresh rate then dont accept,, easy,,

anyway for whatever reason I went back to ACER Customer Service last week and logged in,,
went through the procedure, again, and they promptly offered a firmware upagrade at their service centre,,

3 years after purchase.

consequentially the box containg the monitor is downstairs ready to go for a 17/9 pickup,, and it looks more balloon shaped than flat screen!![bigrolf]



so now I'm on a Samsung 2043BW,, I hope me taking this monitor off one of my f&h PC's wont stop it...[bighmmm]

I rang ACER about the pickup time and they offered a AUS POST drop off,, any time I'd like,, rather than wait for a courier from- Pickup between - 9am and 5pm,, I just dropped it off at Aus Post....
I'm begginging to really like ACER,, [smilebigeye]

After a month,, the screen just turned up on my doorstep,

Aaaaand its not fixed.

2 days later and i get lots of these--

I re-opened my support case and they start talking about cables and using another Gsync computer to test,,
I only have one gsync capable vid card,,
but i swapped out my display port cable for another but that setup failed too after a day,,
I can get rid of that missing line by going from 144Hz to literally anything else, accept then disregard, and alls well again.
I'm pretty sure ACER just plugged it in and not seeing a fault boxed it up straight away,

They KNOW its a fault, there are hundreds of these on the net,, I just read of one manufactured last year that has failed, so after nearly 3 years of production ACER have done nothing,, (sound like a car company we know??)
If they went to all the trouble of paying freight to get it in, why wouldnt they just fix it anyway? I sent them plenty of pics showing the fault.

I can lodge it with the retailer I bought it off,, and they are quite willing to test it on someones desk for a week, but but but I am patiently waiting for a 3080 to turn up and while I dont expect it this week, I have hopes for the next month,, so you can see where this is going---

Further testing by a well known iT expert failed to find that fault, so I replaced my display port cable with a new 1.4v one, a few days testing later and still no fault.....
