HI all,
My front bumper is a little beaten up, to the point where it is uneconomical to repair. I was wondering if the Series 2 bumper could be used, as there seems to be ample Series 2 bumpers available where our Series 1 bumpers seem impossible to find in good condition.
I'm happy to move the fish plates if necessary.

regards and thanks
Jeff

Discounting the first few years of Series 1 where there were several changes, the answer is Series 2/2a/3 (and indeed 90/110/Defender) are a bolt-on replacement - but they are higher and heavier and, more important, wider, by about two inches.

Whether this is important is up to you, I suppose, but given the rising value of S1s, it seems it would be worthwhile to keep trying to get a correct one.

Just for a laugh I swapped the bumpers of my '54 86 and '14 Def. Both fitted like a glove, bolted straight on. Satisfied, I put them both back where they belonged. It occupied half an hour of a wet Sat afternoon [smilebigeye].
