Help! Any links to how to deal with the dreaded aluminium rust. No other metal involved.

Aluminum Ships, Boats and outboard motors use an "anode". You may like to try that? They are really for salt water which causes electrolysis like other metals can. Electrolysis and galvanic corrosion give me the shivers.

This type of thing. It is cheap to try.

Need to be immersed to work - doesn’t help at all above water!

Like any other metal Paint is your friend as far as preventing/slowing down oxidation [thumbsupbig]

What's the application?
An alloy bullbar can be protected by polishing, the corrosion can be buffed to a mirror finish that protects the parent metal.
Engine or cooling system components can be protected chemically with proprietary coolants. Town water with its clorine can be catastrophic to aluminum.

Paint or polish, then.

Don't know if it's part of your application, but black polyurethane sealant will corrode aluminium, ANY other colour is fine.
