Hi all. Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

My D4 is dripping an oil from the right vibration dampener pendulum weight thing (herein referred to as it's testicles) but I cannot for the life of me figure out where it is coming from. I cannot be sure when exactly it started but a couple of times I found a small wet patch under the rear right of the car as picture. First couple of times I assumed it was condensation dripping off the car but as the weather is warming up it struck me as unusual so I investigated.

A few months back the car had a major service with the transmission, transfer case, front and rear diff oils changed. I thought it might be leaking and running down part of the chassis to drip from here but I cannot see anywhere it could be coming from. It just appears in this one spot. Also thought I might have just driven through something that splashed up onto it but this is at least the third time I've noticed it!

Any coincidence - have you filled your fuel tank recently?
Or each time you noticed it by chance?

tank is full so possibly...? it doesn't smell like diesel though. But that might just be it. I'll keep an eye on it next couple of weeks.

Looks as if something has splashed up onto it - but then the drain for the fuel filler runs around there somewhere, so as Tombie suggested it may be fuel from when you have pulled the bowser out of the fuel filler - would normally drop on the ground but if there is some fuel in the drain it might splash around a bit as the car goes along.

You’ve checked all around the diff pumpkin oils not leaking out since oil was recently changed.

Not sure where the rear diff breather routes too but that would be quite clear light oil. Hard to over fill them in any case.

What’s the smell like?

CV boot failure but that generally sprays grease rather than shoots.

That's what I thought too but I've noticed it a couple of times now at least a few weeks apart.

had a good look underneath but cannot find anything else. My sense of smell isn't the best but it doesn't smell like much at all, definitely doesn't smell like diesel. It's clear yellowish kinda thick like oil so I'm not convinced it's fuel from the drain.

That’s very like diff oil. To get the new oil in a pump can be used. Old mate mechanic may have misfired a shot up into your cars nether regions which is now dripping down over the Disco plums.

Like blood you only need a little to make a big mess.
