Good evening Brains Trust, i am in the midst of giving my beloved D3 and mid life cosmeticfacelift and i have ran into abit of a quandry.
I purchased a stedi fog light upgrade that is supposedly a direct replacement for an Arb deluxe bar which looks like what i have.
Lo and behold it dosent fit the 2 fog lights are totally different and bracket seems to fit only LR fog lights none of the ebay lights look like even fitting.
Has anyone out there walked this path before and can please point me in the right direction.
Thanking you ahead of time.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201110/405c24fe2e1cc1a7ff590a23da50f386.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201110/c27a26ec787be6e620547658b1cba0d0.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201110/47432555451bb52063f10f7657b1dab7.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20201110/947a423ec210c30e5f5a88424134b441.jpg

Well the reason is your bracket from ARB is designed to retrofit the LR fog lights onto the bar. Can the lights mount directly to the bar instead of to the LR adapter bracket? Painful, but other option is to return and order LR replacement lights that will fit the bracket.

ARB offer a few different mounting options for fog lights across their range. Many of them vehicle specific so you can take the original fog lights from your front bar and pop them into your bullbar. That might allow you to get a good light bracket that would fit your new lights.

Depending on where you are, some of the ARB folk are pretty helpful and might be willing to go through their list and see if there is an appropriate option. Their system has drawings and measurements for all their products. That should allow for making comparisons, as many of the parts won't be in stock.

I can foresee two problems with this approach straight up though. Firstly, ARB have a habit of charging huge money for simple bits of pressed metal. Secondly, some folks at some ARB stores aren't interested in spending the time with you, they will just say no straight up, because you aren't some brand-new Prado owner with too much money and not enough sense, coming in to buy their entire catalogue. Some are great, some are horrible. It's a bit of potluck....

Good luck and let us know what path you go down.

Thank you guys it was pretty much what i suspected. I guess i was hoping for a straight drop in... but being a land rover i guess we often take the path less trodden.

I will keep you posted.

It's sort of the way of all vehicles these days unfortunately. The Toyota and Nissan guys might claim to be having trouble-free motoring, but what they aren't telling you is they are referring to their second, 35 yr old vehicle! Their pretty, shiny new one has probably had just as many issues as any LR.

As for relating to your current issue, the ARB bars have the same feature in the other brands. The benefit they have is that there is more aftermarket companies supporting them. Downside for them though, there are a LOT more Chinese knockoffs out there for their vehicles, so it is much easier to accidentally buy complete junk. Swings and roundabouts really. :)

Your issue should be pretty easily fixed though, with one of the earlier options.

I personally would have the Dremel and drill out making "slight adjustments". That being said, I'm also often in trouble from the missus for something not going back on the vehicle straight away due to said required slight adjustments... ;)
