Gday, undoing the gearbox oil drain plug brought half of the thread with it today.
Has anyone had experience remedying this before?
It seems to be a M30x1.5 thread... so at the moment I'm thinking of drilling and tapping it out to M32 which uses a 30.5mm drill size so should be just right.

Surely I am not the first one to encounter this... has anyone done this fix before? Suggestions? Remembering the plastic oil filter still needs to be removable.

I could tap M32x1.5 (metric fine) or M32 metric standard/coarse maybe coarser thread will be better for the aluminum?

Then I need to source the drain plug style M32 fitting...

1f it’s an LT95, will it be metric?

Why post the question in the Isuzu section? It’s a gearbox common to several model Land Rovers including Rover V8 petrol models.

I have used this style of repair kit in the past SUMP PLUG REPAIR KIT (18mm Taper Thread) – Munich Motorcycles (https://www.munichmotorcycles.com.au/product/sump-plug-repair-kit-m24x18-taper/)

Do a google search and you may find a suitable kit in the size you need.

Turns out the original plug is M30x1.5
So I drilled the hole out to 30mm.
And happily 30mm drill is the right size for a M32x1.5 tap!
And M32x1.5 is common size for blanking off that size of conduit?
I bought a tap and found a drain plug on amazon from some gearbox the US.

maybe m32x1.5 bolt can be found at your local bolt shop?
Drill out the old thread with a 30mm drill bit and ideally a drill press, if it's out of the car...
google m30x1.5 tap and buy a cheap one or a good used one on ebay.
