Hey folks.
Have a problem with mates TD5 Defer.
R380, selector shaft is stuck in 2nd gear, but box is in neutral. Confirmed a couple of times.
We removed the bias plate selector, and can see the shaft.
Slight tapping won't budge it from it's stuck position. Don't want to force it.
I've done some searching(zero experience with R380 here) and it seems that the detent spring/ball may have stuck the shaft from moving.
We have removed the floor, and from my research we either have to remove seat box or lower trans a bit(can do either) to remove the selector housing to get to the detent access.
Being a R380 noob, we don't want to remove it and bits and pieces go flying everywhere!
So any advice on what/how to do stuff would be appreciated.
Also .. percentage likely hood of some internal damage being the cause of the issue here too.
My feeling is more likely that the issue is just the detent.
Selector shaft stuck in 2nd position, but box is in neutral.
What chance is there that the box has a more serious internal issue.
If box is toast, then mate is probably better off seeking more professional services.
AND! .. if this is the situation, any recommendations for mechanical services for my mate to use around Melb south east area?
TIA.
