Hi Everyone,

The instrument panel on the D3 is playing up, the LCD screen fades out and in, or will go blank completely, the dials and gauges will also stop working leaving me with no speedo etc and then other times it looks like the whole unit is possessed with everything turning off and on.

I've tried to determine the 'best' option, noting that shanegtr on here sent his to the UK. I have tried to find an Australian repair shop to little avail.

So my options presently seem to be:

ebay an dget a unit that's less than the number of KM's mine has as I have an IID Tool coming in the next week or so. Pro, can get panel in a week or so, do it in a weekend, con could have the same issue.

Send the unit to an OZ repair shop: con haven't found one, any suggestions?

Send the unit to the UK, con, longer time without car, pro, should be fixed long term.

Thanks and apologies for asking a question I'm sure has been asked a few times before.

Peter.

Interesting, mine is doing something similar.
I think I read on disco3 uk that it could be the dimmer pot (potentiometer?).
I ran it up, the dimmer wheel, and down the range a few times and it has been stable since.
I too was thinking of sending it, the instrument cluster, to the UK.

I ended up having canbus issues again last year with my repaired cluster. I changed it out for a second hand one that I picked up from a wreckers and used my IID tool to reprogram ( couldnt sync the odo as my D3 had over 260,000km - occording to Gap theres a bug that prevents sync over those km's)

Argh! that's going to be a pain as I have 272,00 on mine now.

So it's a bug with the IID tool?

Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a go as well.

Pat didnt explain if it was a bug with the IID or with the LR firmware in the cluster - I didn't ask where the fault laid. Main thing for me is the replacement all worked with no other issues

So you ODO shows fewer KMs than actual?

Did you go with a 2nd hand replacement?

Sorry for all the questions.

Yes my odo is less that actual, it was just a second hand unit I picked up from a wrecker
