I have had the following fault code come up in a GAP tool fault scan: Fault Code P1712-00 (28) Transmission torque reduction request signal malfunction

Any help with interpreting the significance of fault code would be greatly appreciated.

I suggest that the fault be cleared then have another check, possibly after a few days, to see if the fault returns as it could be just a missed message.
The transmission requests a slight power reduction immediately prior to a gear change so that the change is smoother.

OK thanks - I’ve done that. Gear changes are currently almost seamless.

Sounds like just a comms issue between different ECU’s with the request from one ECU not confirmed by another ECU in time. With all the traffic and multiple signals being transmitted this is not surprising.

If you start to see regular faults like this then time to start checking wiring and connectors. But a single occurrence - clear and ignore.

A real fault is often accompanied by multiple related and unrelated codes from different systems.
