Coolant Leak

Hey gang,

Apologies for so many posts of late, I’m still in the process of learning my new P38 Rangie, and sorting some minor maintenance issues that I’m coming across.

I’ve just noticed some green coolant appearing underneath the block along the sides of where the oil tank bolts on. Only a small amount, not even enough to drip onto the garage floor. I’ve done 1000kms now and it hasn't dropped coolant levels, just wondering if this is a common thing? I can’t see where it’s coming from either.

Also, there doesn’t seem to be coolant entering the engine oil, or vice versa. My other question, would this be blatantly obvious if it was?

Coolant leaks can be a bit hard to chase sometimes, as the fan and air movement can push the leaking coolant rearward and make it look like the leak is further back.
If you have a bright torch, brighter the better, you can have a look from above the engine and try to find the origin of the leak that way, then get underneath, you might be able to hunt it down, try to follow the trail if you can.
I had coolant appearing at the bottom of the front left hand side of the engine, i was able to trace it to one of the bolts on the water pump, apparently some of the bolts go through to the water jacket, coolant had worked it's way along the bolt and thats where the leak originated.
It could be a pin hole leak in a hose, or coolant seeping past a loose hose clamp, you should be able to hunt it down.
That's what I do anyway!
